Miami should be proud that these beautiful birds live in their city. Magnificent. They really should do more to protect them.

Please share. We need public attention to stop poaching . The public is our eyes and ears. Thank You Neil for such an outstanding video.

It’s not technically poaching. It’s not illegal to take them off their eggs/chicks. I had two of the parrots seen at 2:08. My uncle was cutting down trees in South Florida and there was a nest on that particular tree. He took three chicks and another worker took the rest. We hand fed those babies and they grew up just fine. My uncle kept one and I kept two. They ultimately bonded with my grandma so she kept them. I don’t think it’s bad unless you’re killing then or harming them.

Babies I meant. I don’t think it’s kind to take adult parrots that have lived their lives in the wild.

Such great work! When's the mini-documentary on South Florida's exotic lizards (especially anoles)!
@DaysEdgeProductions6 жыл бұрын
Hi Chuck. Funny enough, our company just finished a 1-hour broadcast documentary about anoles, several scenes of which were filmed in Florida. Look for "Laws of the Lizard" airing on the Smithsonian Channel later this year! Are you a South Floridian?

Unfortunately no, but trying to talk my wife into retiring to Florida from Virginia in a few years (she's a New England girl so I'm not having much luck!). I've been fascinated by Knight Anoles for over 30 years, so love any opportunity to see them "in the wild". Looks like I'm going to have to see if I can subscribe to the Smithsonian Channel! Thanks!
