I was taught that in Yeshua’s day they wore the tefillin (size of a postage stamp, which I got to see in Israel!) at all times. So, the tradition of not wearing them, must go with the more modern large black boxes, not being worn on Shabbat and other holy days. I always love the four prong Shin teaching! ❤

This is quite a teaching ....very interesting. Lol , maybe there are 4 stems on one of the Shin's, because there are 4 different passages and placed on the four different pieces of papers , and also our brain has 4 different regions .....the 3 prong Shin is on the right side of the tefillin- representing the spiritual (God, Yeshua and The Holy Spirit),and the 4 pronged Shin represents the worldly thinking ....our 4 region brain.....one day we shall find out what it really means. Also, we are currently in a 3D world , but maybe after Yeshua comes, we will be in a 4D world....😉I also loved the connection with the fire from Mount Horeb and the Pentecost in the book of Acts.

How did they decide that the boxes would be how they would wear them upon their arms and forehead. It doesn’t seem practical that labor men would be wearing boxes on their head that way while working.

Great question! There have been several opinions over the years about how large or small the tefillin/phylacteries should be, and how they should be wrapped and tied. And these differing practices are still in use today. As to wearing refilling all day, that is rarely done. Traditionally, they are worn only six days a week during the morning prayers.

I have heard a Messianic Rabbi say that echad should be unity not one to show the unity of Father, Son and Ruach

Matthew, Yes, I have heard the same thing, but the word 'echad' is used the same way the word 'one' is used in English. It simply means 'one' whether it is one thing or one group of things. You can see this from the first few places it is used in the Bible: Genesis 1:5, 9 / 2:11, 24 / 11:6

@@grantluton Normally, I would agree If I hadn't first read "Being Like God" and other Kabbalah works state that it is about Universal Consciousness. Yehuda Berg even insisted that there echad should be translated "unity." (Some Kabbalist say the Shema should not be translated but used in meditation to unify with the universe.) I like the Messianic answer best but using it in meditation helps me sleep.

@Shaymaa Atteya The problem is the Kabbalist will translate it Universality.
