Dushyant, Asti does not mean Veda is there. It rather means the source of Dharma is the Veda. A person who believes that the Vedas are foremost source of Dharma is a Astika.

Namaskarams. With due respects, I submit the following. Please excuse me if I am factually found incorrect, regarding the observance of Sama Upakarma. It is, as per my very very limited knowledge -For followers of Saama-Veda, Upakarma falls on the day coinciding with Hastha Nakshathra during Bhadrapada masam. At times, it coincides with Vinayaka Chaturthi. Being a Sama Vedi, I have been following this for almost 50 years.
