This was a big help to me. My Royal Blue wouldn’t work after rewiring and reverse unit rebuild. Watched the videos two or three times. Finger wasn’t making contact. Thanks for the help you didn’t know you were providing!!

Glad to be of assistance! I have had the same issue many times, especially with the new, stiffer materials used in reverse fingers.

Looking forward to part two. Good information, I have two royal blues need to check to see which ones. Both have been changed to knuckle couplers. Thanks.

Liked the video on a classic AF favorite. The fingers are funky and causing the usual trouble. One day I will figure out which version I like and sell my other ones. I always thought about painting the wheels to match the engine and tender. That is the one place I would vary from my usual original only soul. Good to see the versions side by side.

I will watch for part 2. My current Royal Blue is the version with the B&O logo at the tender front. Mine was in excellent mechanical condition when I bought it, but visually it was on the border of touching it up or completely restoring it. I went for touching up and adding the gold striping and white lines at the smoke stack, and silver on the bands across the lower nose. It is now in line for service so I wil get good reminders from this, and the following video. Thank you in advance.

An excellent presentation in the efficiency of lubricants I would say. And, as usual, very nicely done. Awaiting Part II....

Smoked Kielbasa Polka! It is interesting to see the variations between the one's you have to work on. Will be looking forward to seeing repair results. The one that has substantial paint loss I would do something slightly custom like Mark Wicks American Flyer- a bit more prototypical. I was able to find a Circus engine shell and the tender also has substantial paint loss.

Great Video as always Austin. The Royal Blue is such a great engine. Also love the Chrome Silver Bullet. Only bad thing on a Royal Blue is no smoke! And the link couplers. But those two things are easily fixed. I love my Royal Blue that has smoke and TMCC in it! Thanks for sharing as always!

Did you add the smoke unit or place the royal blue on a different engine chassis?

Interesting locomotives. Obviously the older one is closest to the prewar version. Pity they didn't put smoke and choo choo in these. They are such elegant looking engines. They certainly don't look like the inexpensive things at the beginning of the catalogs.

My 1948 350 has a different tender. It says Baltimore and Ohio instead of American Flyer. Didn't see one in your videos. I enjoy your channel.

Congratulations...this is an early one. The 1948 shown in part 1 and 3 of this series also has that name. If you watch all the videos you will find several interesting bits about your engine.

A silver Bullet in Chrome was made in 1953 and a Satin Silver in 1954. I'll get you a link to another video.

Great Video as always Austin. The Royal Blue is such a great engine. Also love the Chrome Silver Bhullet. Only bad thing on a Royal Blue is no smoke! And the link couplers. But those two things are easily fixed. I love my Royal Blue that has smoke and TMCC in it! Thanks for sharing as always! Interesting information about the Royal Blue painted over the Circus engine. I bought a Royal Blue a while back. When I got it I saw a little red paint under the Blue and It had a smoke unit. Now I need to revisit this engine and figure out if this was a Factory repaint or not. Do you know if the Royal Blue Repaints from the factory kept the Smoke unit? Also were they done on diecast engines or the plastic? I am really curious now.
