Really enjoyed the interview. Derek is a gentleman and I really enjoy his analysis on the various channels. A loyal , true blue Gers man but without any sense of hatred towards his rivals outside the ninety minutes of battle. A real old school good guy who has my respect as a Celtic fan.

That Celtic game Derek was on about, the 2-2 draw at Ibrox, that was my first old firm game, I was a wee 8 year old boy in the what is now Sandy Jardine stand upper deck with my Dad. I will never forget that game!

Derek was a class act in his time playing for Hearts. Composed, controlled the tempo, dictated play and put the effort in every game.

The point about players giving 1% to grassroots is a very good one and something that should be brought up with clubs and governing bodies. Glad the shows back! Will catch part2 soon 😊

I am a celtic man but I love DF : what a humble guy : he lived his dream playing for rangers probably broke his heart leaving them but his memories don't leave him : Lewis his boy is going to the very top of game and I'm happy for his family 💙

I had no idea Derek was a Blue Star player as was I just a few years before him, well remember the Edi road battles being a 59 born Wellhouse lad, it was the local spectator sport.

I remember being around 17 when barry broke into the team and quickly became my idol. But a few of the older generation used to say Derek was an even better player and could have been top drawer if things went different for him.

That the players union no player pays a fee to be in. Your right they should be forced to put money in to grass routes. And there agents should pay double what players put in

Loved Derek as a player, saw him for Rangers and Sunderland...classy, skilled and should have been one of our greatest players ever...i run a professional academy in canada...its indepnedent of the so called community clubs that are engineered by the city and towns..when we started we were attacked non stop, they prevneted us from having clubs in the leagues, they told us we had to have a minumum of 300 kids to be recognised but even when we had this guarentee they then put up another roadblock..their coaching is a joke, there is no coaching or its incredibly abusive..the CSA is responsible for how bad things are...i was brought 2 U16 players to work with as the club they played for were very afriad of the damage that the CSA and in particular their head coach at the time was doing to them...I worked with them and the rest of their club infrastructure..i was networking with other coaces who were mainly british UEFA a licensed coaches or UK pro badge holders and they were all saying the same things...its was purely about money..the CSA was not made up of football people..and the stories of corruption and agends at the CSA and CONCAF are rife... I currently have 2 players I coached playing at the higher levels of the game in the UK...and several others in other countries...no thanks or help from the CASE..we funded the whole thing indepnedently and away from the local and national body...a big thanks to all the players and their parents who understood what we were trying to achieve..a case in point was Mo Johnstone..who offered to help the CSA who flatly refused to even talk to the guy..he tried to do a lot for the game here but even he was shot down and then left...even Richard Bate who was brought in from the England U20 team left in less than 6 months after the things that he and the rest of us witnessed....the game here is corrupt and all about money...NOTHING TO DO WITH THE KIDS OR THEIR DEVELOPMENT...i congratulate you on focussing on the real grassroots of the game...the current system is not working as it is focussed on money, lack of development for home grown pklayers all the way through...instead the look for these players who are from foreign countries and bring them in, which has a huge affect on th homegrown players development..which basically stops at U18 if they are lucky...this agenda is being driven by the SFA but overall from UEFA....it si encouraging that others can perceive these problems and tryand push back in a positive way..
