I temember my brother buying Urban Wax - Open Your Mind / You Take Me Up. We made that 10" legendary amongst our friends, we were all a few years away from being old enough for the raves, so my brother and I learned to mix and that was one of our favourites.

This interview is great, your story is so similar to mine and many others, my years were 91/92. Its fascinating to hear how you got your start and your words on mental health are so important, respect!

Ive been a fan since "never try the hippodrome" was somewhat new. That song was rinsed everywhere in FL at one point. The hardcore scene was mostly a UK thing, however here in Florida, breakbeat and hardcore had taken hold here in the early 90s. Breaks was and is in OUR culture. In a recent interview on Juno, Rob Playford even admitted that Moving Shadow's first success outside of the UK was in FL and NY. Rennie P, Ellis Dee, Danny Breaks, Prodigy and SO many others were coming here to Central Florida during those ground breaking years. Feel blessed to have been a witness to some of it!!! Orlando was a hub for breakbeat in most of the 90s and songs like yours I feel that helped drive that. The one thing you highlighted was the focus on "FUN". I kind of feel like thats the big difference between now and then!!! Not that songs arent fun now, there is just too much focus on molding a million dollar sound instead of just SENDING it and writing a fun tune! Big ups! Mad respect! 🙌🙌🙏🙏
