I'm excited to share with you all PART 1 of my bday weekend up at Double Island! 😙 In this video I will provide some insight into how I deal with the traction control when driving on the beach, and I am also doing a brief overview over the different mods I have on the jimny.

Fantastic video your car is starting to look the part . I have started flowing you for a little while and have not pick up your name. I’m tossing up at the moment in buying myself a Jimny or go and get something bigger because I don’t know if the Jimny is going to be able to tow a trailer etc . And also do a lot of high way use is well. So looking forward to watching your next video take care

If there is an airbag behind that molle panel mount you really need to hope it doesn't deploy - better still get a safer molle panel mount The panel could stop the airbag when you need it. At worst the airbag could detach the panel and launch it into someone in the vehicle.

you can add coil spacers on the rear, like 15mm spacer, so it will sit higher and not sag.

You’re such an inspiration Malin! We just moved here to NNS and still haven’t been out to your backyard- Double Island on my Jimny 😅😅 I’m super nervous about it as I only had one driving experience on sand.. I actually hit the sand bank on our old jeep GC ) What would you recommend me to build myself up and get into this beach drive sport safely? I need to start living enjoy the fun than living in fear. 🤙🏽 to me when you spot a Jimny with a pink licence plate 😎

Awesome video. Love the Jimny. I have the same cupholders. Do yours also annoy you when trying to use the indicator. Maybe I should just still get used to it. And then when on brites you can’t indicate left except by rubbing it over the edge of the cupholder.

Yes same! Love driving on the beach 🤗 Yes absolutely you could wire a switch to it, I know people who have done that, however it's important to know that if you wire a switch and it's visible for everyone to see, the manufacturer could void your insurance etc. if they suspect you've altered the crash cam (if you're unlucky and crash) and hence why I haven't done it - I just don't want it to be an issue if something would happen, if that makes sense.

Great video 👍. Is your roof rack powder coated mild steel or aluminium ? If mild steel , is it durable ? Your radio antenna mounting is great . A radio's range is dependent on line of sight , so the higher it is installed , the better is the range

Hi there you have the link to the tactical badge on your site, but not the link for the actual grille. Can you share the link please?
@ExploreJimny
@ExploreJimny 3 ай бұрын
Hey so that’s actually a standard grille that had the suzuki letters on there. It says on the tactical website what it’s compatible with and then you can just head to eBay and buy a standard grille with no S or Suzuki on there

I keep hearing this 30kg roof load limit quoted, but it's not listed in the specifications in the owner's manual, which is where you'd find it. If Suzuki doesn't publish the roof load limit in the vehicle specifications, I doubt it can void your insurance. Interestingly, there's no figure published in UK or France either for the JB74, but there is one published in Suzuki's official specs in Switzerland, and the figure is 50kg - I assume it's a legal requirement there to publish the spec. Of course, at the end of the day you still want to minimise the weight on top as much as possible. The mattress looks good, do you know if it fits inside the car if you need to sleep in the car?
@ExploreJimny
@ExploreJimny Жыл бұрын
Hey Tim! Yeah correct, it’s not listed however I emailed Suzuki Australia directly and they confirmed 30kg as the limit. There’s has been similar incidents happen in QLD with other vehicles where insurance was voided due to overloading which resulted in compromising the breaks 🤷🏽‍♀️ I guess it’s a risk you’d take, but I obviously dont think insurance would be an issue if you have like 50kg on there, in talking more 80-100 due to the centre of gravity being then higher, causing more sway etc. I haven’t actually tried to put the mattress in the car as I’ve only slept with a single mattress in there but it might work 😃
@aggedor2
@aggedor2 Жыл бұрын
@@ExploreJimny I doubt an insurance company could prevail in court in voiding insurance if it isn't a published spec. Sure, if it's publicly available in published specifications with other vehicles, you definitely have a problem if you exceed it, in an accident you could see your insurance voided if its a contributing factor. In the case of the Jimny though, I'm quizzical as to why the Suzuki official published maximum load would be 50kg in Switzerland, but 30kg here. Something doesn't add up (unless Suzuki Australia is giving people the off-road derated figure when they are contacted...since 30kg is 60% of 50kg, that might make sense).
@ExploreJimny
@ExploreJimny Жыл бұрын
@@aggedor2 Yeah I guess it's a risk you take, but this is the response I received, and I am not sure why it's not more publicly accessible, but I feel I'd rather let people know than leave it: Mike Turner, Suzuki Queensland: "Maximum load for the Suzuki Jimny roof is 30Kg including the weight of any racks and accessories. We have seen GVM increases offered by aftermarket suppliers in the form of suspension modifications. However, these have not been tested by Suzuki and changing the centre of gravity by overloading the roof could have many implications in regards to vehicle stability and insurance ramifications."

@richardweston5761 Жыл бұрын
Great comment Tim and factually you are correct. It all comes down to insurance which obviously varies from country to country and company to policy. Just let your insurance company know that you want to put a 60kg RTT on and see what they say. It doesn't matter what Suzuki says in some random forum. If it's not in the manual, you are free to do what you like as long as your insurance company agrees.
@aggedor2
@aggedor2 Жыл бұрын
@@richardweston5761 I let the insurance company know, and they won't cover the RTT itself but they will still cover the vehicle in an accident. So I need to bear any damage to the RTT, but its not impacting my cover of the vehicle.

Gidday...At 24.45 mins in your video, as you're talking about the roof racks, you walk past your open tailgate which has a nonstandard "thing" covering the inner door panel. What is this?.. And yes, I recognize the de-mister cable protectors, but there is something else going on?

Service mode to disable the traction control if you want it off in high range is probably the more elegant way over yanking a fuse, tbh. Fewer drawbacks that way in my eyes. Also, the various errors noted when yanking the fuse will be retained and thus scannable unless you go back in with something like szviewer & remove all stored but no longer active codes.
@ExploreJimny
@ExploreJimny Жыл бұрын
I don't think there's really an elegant way to do it regardless, it's just stupid how there's no way to turn it off. Putting the car into service mode is a bit fiddly too so not sure how many people that would do that, but at least with taking the fuse in and out it would be traceable when it's back in again. However,I agree it's not pretty but it get's me from A to B without the breaks constantly kicking in 🤗 Also I can assure you, the fuse is intact and completely fine haha
@ellingly
@ellingly Жыл бұрын
@@ExploreJimny Yeah the fuse is fine, service mode is more untraceable was my point. Vs q's being asked as to why your car has a bunch of stored codes even if no longer valid (i.e. the ECU knows they've been solved). Service mode isn't fiddly at all with the service connected jumped out - just ignition on and disable with the T/C switch...

@ExploreJimny
@ExploreJimny Жыл бұрын
@@klasgelinder Yeah I’ve seen that one too but then every time you turn off your car you’d have to do that again so I’m not sure, I guess it’s either the switch or fuse for me 😂

There is an alternate workaround which involved bridging two wires under the dash which enables diagnostic mode that in turn disables traction control without disabling ABS etc and where by cycling between turning diagnostic mode on or off at the ignition stage, the full functionality of the Jimny can also easily be restored. I have yet to try out this mod personally therefore your mileage may vary. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJrIq4aOqK93faM
