I replaced my shocks and springs with coil-overs and sway bars about 8 years ago. The one thing I didn’t like was the end-links. I ended up buying heavy duty ones from Kollar racing. I am about 1.5” lower and running 285/30/19 in back and 245/35/19 fronts. I love the stance but it is stiffer for sure. You car looks great man.

Woah.. your radius rod bushing to control arm are shot. I had wierd tire wear and shaking steering wheel with the spongy radius rod bushings. Just changed all the front bushings on my car with whiteline poly's and it feels like a new car.

Most definitely next thing I wanna do are bushing in this car… thanks for the input and letting know about your experience. Looks like that’s the next upgrade I’ll be doing to the gto. Definitely needs bushing upgrade front and back suspension.

@@ghc_gto_6.0 Just a tip on getting the bushings out of the control arm. I used a 2 prong bearing puller and just pushed the bushing out with a socket on the screw and the prongs pulling the back of the arm. See people beating them out and all sorts of stuff. Took 2 minutes to push them out once I figured out to use a puller.

I noticed you took the jam nut off from the upper mount bushing. I thought that was unthreaded only if the bushing were to come off. Did you swap bushings when the camera was off. And did you loosen the proload before taking that nut off? Thanks.
@timik7645 Жыл бұрын
Nice install!!! need help with my setup. I noticed you took the nut off the top of the new rubber mount, then seated the coilover and put the nut on the top hat then tightened! I tried to use the directions and they specify to leave the nut on top of the rubber mount, then seat the coilover and use the old nut on top of the top hat, but I noticed if I do that the top hat sticks up through and doesn't set flush like the old strut did. When I took the nut off from under the top hat and installed it the way you did, the top hat fits flush like the old setup did. Was wondering if you noticed any issues driving, steering, ect using one nut on top of the top hat and not a nut on top of the rubber mount and the second nut on top of the top hat?

I haven’t had any issues or any weird noises either…. I daily drive the car, I do alot of car cruises , canyon road drives with friends and everything still seems fine to me. Only thing I do I just tighten setup for those events and soften it for when just cruising around town or for long road trips.

@@Sizzla69-69we're both saying the same thing. When he says don't touch them, he means don't break them loose from each other. When I "spin the whole thing", I'm just putting my spanners on those preload nuts to do so, I'm not breaking them loose from each other. Check out part 9 for setting ride height, it shows exactly what I mean.

I just bought an 06 gto with said Coilovers and my car is what I’d imagine to be the lowest it can go and I don’t want it to be so slow. How do I raise the height of the car? Someone told me it’s a pain doing it bc you gotta make sure they’re all level
@ghc_gto_6.02 ай бұрын
@@OleBcy raising and lowering the suspension is super easy… if you have time to wait I can make a KZbin short about it maybe tomorrow … I work graveyard and just got to work. But it’s super easy to raise and lower. It comes down to preference of how high you want it and what gap from tire to fender you like… if you have after market wheels like I do with different offset I raised mine just enough so the tires don’t rub anymore while driving over bumps at street and freeway speeds. That being said I had to adjust mine few times until I got it spot on. Still super easy as long as you have the spanner wrench for the coilover it’s easy.
@ghc_gto_6.02 ай бұрын
@@OleBcy the gap on mine rear is slightly more (rear is slightly higher) than the gap on the front wheels( front slight lower).. only because wheel and tire combo is different and they are staggered setup aswell. Again it comes to preference.

I should’ve done this years ago to be honest.
@ZL1-Jeremy2 жыл бұрын
What adjustment does the pedders have? My bc racing fronts only get stiffer. What rears are you going with? I strongly suggest the gforce kit if you need to lower it and have ability to tune it. Only true coilovers offered for rear that I know of and they no longer offer the kit with shocks.
@ghc_gto_6.02 жыл бұрын
Pedders front and rear have 30 click adjust for either stiffer feel or softer. And obvious able to adjust ride height separate from stiffness . I bought the full pedders kit front n rear I’ll be posting part 2 on rear suspension next
@ZL1-Jeremy2 жыл бұрын
@@ghc_gto_6.0 sounds the same as bc. I couldn’t use the bc springs with the height adjuster, they made my wheel hop so bad. I hope you have better luck with pedders.
@evsnova742 жыл бұрын
The thing about the gforce kit is that it's for drag racing, supposedly it's not designed to take the kind of loads that extreme cornering puts suspension through. At least that's what I was told.
@ZL1-Jeremy2 жыл бұрын
@@evsnova74 mine came with strange shocks but since then they no longer offer it with shocks. So qa1, strange whatever your flavor. Idk how tunable they are but I’ll find out. And they do allow a larger tire, not sure how much though. Yet. Also, any other kit isn’t really a coilover at all, just an adjustable shock. There’s probably much better shocks out there for our cars. The spring that comes in the coilover kits, on my car, made wheel hop much worse. I’d recommend then, a stiffer lowering spring that can still fit drag bags. Eliminating wheel hop should be priority number one imo.

Yes you can keep stock height with these if need be. Just have to adjust them .. they even go a lil higher than stock aswell. I needed that option so when I throw on the drag pack I can raise the rear up to clear the tires.

For regular driving it’s ok … as soon as you Enter any type of serious racing everything has to get upgraded in order to really enjoy the car and keep it from breaking. I liked the car before and loved it once I didn’t all the upgrades which I’m still not done yet.. bushings are next and brake upgrade for sure… stock brakes are too small and are barely stopping me. Factory wheel and tire size was too small aswell for this car. Took alot of money to start loving it actually. But worth it in the end.
