Part 1: Hollow Knight Blind Playthrough! | THERE'S A NEW GAME COMING OUT?!

Welcome to the beginning of my blind playthrough series of Hollow Knight! Why I decided to take on a platformer with a controller, I do not know, but this game has had my eye for quite some time and with the release of Silksong being pushed back, I figured it gave me enough time to finish this one!

F'real, did the word go out amongst KZbin Let's Players that Hollow Knight gets big numbers? I've seen so many people pick it up in the last couple of months. This is not a complaint, this game is an absolute masterpiece and the more people who have played it, the better. I WILL WATCH EVERY LAST VIDEO.

It def is trending! I think with fans being edged with the release of Silksong for so long and so many times, HK is getting more and more popular ❤️❤️ plus the community, so far, has been nothing but amazing and supportive. That’s always a plus 😍

Personally I’ve watched about 6 KZbinrs play through the game. It’s like rewatching your favourite movie, or re-reading your favourite book. I’ve played through it countless times, got all the achievements, speed run just over 3 hours, steel soul, etc, and now the only way I can continue to enjoy it is through others because I can never get back that feeling of being lost, losing to bosses and figuring out how to defeat them, discovering secrets, and unraveling the story hidden underneath it all. Watching people play is like reliving those experiences vicariously through them, seeing them react to things for the first time :)

It’s a little sad isn’t it knowing you can’t ever get that back but at the same time you’re happy to have had the experience?! I completely understand where you’re coming from! And it’s so different from rewatching your favorite movie because everyone’s playstyle is different and may bring up something new you hadn’t seen before! Hollow Knight is a beautiful, gorgeous, impactful, comforting game. It's unlike anything I've ever played. The only thing I imagine could come close to it is the inevitable Silksong.

Amen to the call out for Xbox, PS and Nintendo to come together and agree on one standard for controller mapping - my poor brain struggles every time I need to switch controller. Especially the fact that xbox and nintendo have swapped which buttons they call A/B and X/Y is just disproportionality annoying. 😅

It is 😭😭 I have both switch and a ps controller and most games use Xbox so it’s always a struggle remembering which one is the default jump and select buttons 🥲

I blame Microsoft! Nintendo already had a standard button layout beginning with the Super Nintendo, but Microsoft said, "nah, let's flip that!" when they came out with the Xbox.

A bit rough to watch, but that’s part of the fun watching people discover the game for the first time. How many episodes before she realizes she can swing up and down? Or heal… heal! Lol -- Came back to edit: she gets much better as she goes :)

Late joiner. Don't worry too much about controls you will get used to them over time, hopefully. We all did. People have probably already told you, but you can talk to each npc in each location up to 3 times usually. Otherwise you can miss that lore/dialogue forever. Plus they can get extra dialogue too over time, after advancing the game. Its just a small tip but I hope it helps if you are interested in not losing stuff ! Game is full of mystery I hope you enjoy it as much as many of us did! Biggest problem is dying twice in a row without finding your soul. This means losing all your geo forever, which will bite you a lot eventually cause you need to spend that to buy stuff in the game. Keep it in mind to improve your progress it should help.

hehe, pp stones. In my hundreds of hours in the game I never saw that. Kind of relieved that someone has a dirtier mind than me. I hope you explore all there is to this game. Beware, there will be difficult enemies and platforming, many hidden secrets and feels, lots of feels.

An offline playthrough for blind might be better. Otherwise you'd probably be plagued by the "over enthusiastic" (backseaters). Its been nice and chill watching you on the side doing other things

Surprisingly enough the Hollow Knight community is nothing but protective of the first time blind experience. Only leaving cryptic breadcrumbs when I ask and filling me in on stuff I missed out on! The series has been lovely experience with the community

The relief I felt when you finally found Cornifer... That was the longest I have ever seen anybody wander around without a map. 😄 Well, that's the blind playthrough experience for ya, sh*t happens. 😉 Edit: Missed the stag station as well? How unlucky. The runback to Gruz Mother would have been much shorter and less risky. Edit 2: Finally found the stag station, but declined to pay the toll. Talk about the choices one makes, and having to live with the consequences. 😬 I don't think you could have made the early phase of this game any harder for yourself if you had actively tried.

There was no way for you to know, neither the bench location nor the benefits of unlocking stag stations. Playing "blind" is a great opportunity, but it can also be a bit cruel at times. We've all been there. 😳

If you're playing on PC, I'd highly recommend making sure Vsync is OFF in the graphics settings menu. Looking forward to watching another new player's Hollow Knight journey!
