Nice! Lots of good info for old school finding them and knowing what your looking for on your screens even if you have a different brand of electronics. I use another brand but fishing is fishing on the visual clues and especially knowing where to start.

Love all your crappie videos! 1000% agree. I spend way more time mapping/scoping crappie schools up and down river systems, building "milk runs" if you will than actually casting and beating the banks. Lots of folks would be more successful if they had the patience to search more and fish less. God Bless!

This is a very good video. Just started using electronics/side/down scan. About a year ago. I've learned the mapping system is very important. I use to not Ever even look at my map.i have a newer model top of the line graph now and realize it's all about mapping/hunting. Your graph is super clear. I think i need to move my transducer. I have a brand new Garmin 93 uhd with 455 and 1120 kh. And it's not as clear as your unit. I get allot of prop wash interfearance at 2-5mph. Just not as clear as i think it should be. I'm headed to a new area tomorrow morning and will be hunting for crappie. Great video. Just Found this channel. Just subbed.

Really informative video. When I take individuals out they always ask me how I make it look so easy and my reply to them is it isnt.....many...many hours were spent learning forage and electronics for me. It baffles me when I go with someone and they have really good electronics and always ask me to set their system up for them. I call that spoon feeding! It's like they don't want to spend time learning. Many years ago ....and you will laugh at this but my weakness in bass fishing was a jig.....thats right a jig. No matter what I did....no matter who I listened to I could not catch a bass on a jig. I made my mine up at that point that I would not fish anything else or for anything else until I mastered a pig and jig. I know many will laugh at this but I was snake bit when fishing a jig. So....I put 2 rods in the boat with different line weights and different size jigs along with several jars of uncle Josh pork rinds and for 6 months I fished only jigs. The jig was the only bait I had in the boat on each trip. What this did was made me pay more attention to my electronics and scout for areas that were holding bass and from there I would use the jig. For some, the jig came easy but like I stated I had a mental block and it kept me from using the bait. After that 6 months not only did I master the jig but I became much better at utilizing my electronics. There have been many times I didn't put rods in the boat and just scouted and marked areas. By learning electronics an angler can learn more about forage and how forage reacts during weather fronts and lake levels. Billy Westmoreland once told me that if you learn and study the forage fish feed on most of your hard work is over. I guess he was right because I can say I know more about forage then I do the actual species I am going after. I appreciate you sharing this with the viewers. It just amazes me how some anglers have absolutely great electronics but never use them or understand what the data is showing. By the way.....some of my friends are begging to buy some of the uncle Josh pork rinds I bought back in the early 80's. Got 6 cases left.....NOT FOR SALE! Keep doing what you are doing....not many share their knowledge like you do. Take care, be safe and good luck on all your upcoming tournaments. I will send you some of my hand tied jigs for crappie and smallmouth. Think you will like them!

Lots of truth in everything you said. Being a student of the game and constantly learning is what makes fishing such a great sport. Fishing is ever changing, and fish are getting smarter and smarter with the advancements in technology, but we have to try and stay one step ahead. It’s a never ending puzzle. By the way, uncle josh is back in business and making pork again. I have several jars myself. Thanks for watching!

Your a good fisherman and GREAT teacher and doing a great job with your videos. YOU are making novice fisherman professionals. There are people that are pissed off about Livescope and live view. KZbin is way more harmful to fish populations than Live scope will ever be :) I am a salt water Guide in Venice/Buras La. I run Lowrance on my Guide boat and my small aluminum boat and recently added Garmin LS on the bow. I'm chasing Crappie,(SacALait) on my off days (mostly rivers) and trout and redfish in shallow water. If you ever get time, I would love to see a shallow water locating Crappie/Bass video. You ever get down to S La and want to do grand slam. Bass trout and reds. Look me up. Capt. Vic

I have fished fifty years and I can tell you that almost all of the serious professional fishermen use Lowrance graphs , and that is probably the best choice for them ,,whats funny is that I have guided fishing trips and made a lot of money, on many trips and I have never owned a lowrance. It’s really a matter of need ,, when you guide on just a handful of lakes , you know exactly where to find the fish on any given day of the year ,and to launch your boat four hundred times yearly , some times to get bait ,,and some for fishing trips , will leave you almost to where you don’t need any graph.

Absolutely! You find them the same way in the same places but you have to fish around to find them. All electronics do is help us to break down water quicker and help eliminate unproductive water. I am glad I learned to fish off instincts before I ever owned a depth finder though because it teaches you to fish what’s in front of you and listen to what the fish are telling you.

I've been using Mr. Crappie for a bit and I've lost a few by trying to flip them in. Usually a dip net right under my feet. I can't speak for Brandon but I have had no problems with Mr. CRAPPIE or Vicious. In fact I use 6 lb and 8 lb on my spinning reels when fishing for smallmouth at night. Both lines show up well under black light. I can add that a few years ago I was having problems with Mr. CRAPPIE line breaking and after doing a little trouble shooting I had a nick on my line roller which was fraying the line. You might check one of your ceramic line guides for a chip or crack. I did hear you say your problem exists at the knot. Are you wetting your line as you cinch it tight? Sometimes water can effect your knot as well. Let me explain.....several years ago I use to fish flint creek on the Tennessee River. This particular creek has a lot of sediment and it stays pretty dirty. I was noticing my knots breaking after several fish and like you thought it was the line. When I got home I put all my rods including each knot and literally saw Abrasion right below the knot. Ot was especially noticeable when utilizing loop knots. So to solve the problem I made sure to change my line after each trip and bingo no more knot problems. I normally leave a lot of backing on my crappie reels because I change my line often depending where I am fishing. Also several years ago I was having problems with fluorocarbon line breaking at the know and basically chalked it up to a bad lot of line. From my experience Mr. Crappie and Vicious is good line for the price. If you really like hi vis there is a line called slim line is pretty good you might want to try. I use to use it but it got to the point where it was hard to find. Hope I have helped. Maybe Brandon can chime in. I hope you figure out what is going on. Stay safe and tight lines.
