How welding machines work
Welding machines use a high-temperature arc to melt the material being welded and the solder on the electrode. This arc is created when the positive and negative poles are short-circuited.
Types of welding machines
Welding machines can be categorized by their output power source, which can be AC or DC.
Welding processes
There are many different welding processes, including metal inert gas (MIG), tungsten inert gas (TIG), gas welding, and more.
Welding power supply
Welding power supplies can be designed using transformers, generators, alternators, and inverters.
Weld line
In manufacturing, a weld line occurs when two flow fronts are unable to meet during the molding process.
Welding safety
Welding can be dangerous due to the risk of burns from heat and sparks, and the risk of explosion and fire from compressed gases and flames. Welders wear protective clothing to avoid these risks.
Welding polarity
The polarity of the electrode affects the properties of the weld. A positively charged electrode results in a hotter base metal, which increases welding speed and penetration. A negatively charged electrode results in shallower welds.
