China has one of the highest proportions worldwide of overweight and obesity among children under five. About 8.3% of people of this age group in China - roughly 5 million children - were overweight or obese in 2020, and the proportion is still rising.22-Jun-2023 I mean I dont think people in china care about this 🤷🏻‍♀️

Damn it’s like the opposite in America. I’ve always been REALLY skinny, but unless I’m looking online, I can never find anything that fits. Clothing companies assume everyone is obese here, so I can never find pants in my size. I’m okay with oversized shirts, but I need pants that actually fit my small waist.

I know what you mean. I have big hips, so I have to buy 4XL (US size XL) pants and tailor them myself, otherwise they're 3XL (China. US size L) and sit all wrong. In Western clothing my pants are usually a slightly wrong L for some brands or medium for others. Pretty often they forget to scale the hood/sleeves/collar, so we have normal sized shorts with child/dog sized parts. It's ridiculous.

This woman is right, beauty standards in China is insane, but the examples are terrible. And the comments are way too over the top.

There are several small Chinese clothing brands who I like the designs of but have had to stop purchasing from because they expanded sizes from S/M/L/XL to XS/S/M/L/XL/XXL/XXXL but the XXL is the measurements that their M used to be. For some of them the current S and M sizes are almost too small/really tight for my friend who only isn't a runway model because they're two inches too short.

I'm going to venture a guess that this has to do with problems with the food and general supply chain. because ultimately, it seems like everybody from the top down is being told you need to get skinnier so that you have enough food to survive. you're going to be rationing soon. I think I should be watching what the general economic situation is. They're hiding it it looks like by giving you a lot of trendy fashion but the sizes they're encouraging indicate you're not going through a second Tang dynasty anytime soon.
