Here comes the prequel to the ‘Comfort After Abuse’ videos, yay! This series will address a lot of similar topics so be aware there might be discussions that hit a little close to home. Please look after yourself and make sure you listen when you are in a good mental place to do so. My goal for these videos is to share conversations that I’ve had with people who were still figuring out how to take back their autonomy after hurtful relationships. It is possible to find yourself again after being pushed down. It might just take a while, but your freedom will only grow from here 💕

I've got a question... how can this be a prequel to the comfort for abuse series if it's the listener's *first* healthy relationship? I should admit that I haven't listened to the comfort for abuse series but I'm just curious... and very confused
@Eric-zc1ld3 жыл бұрын
@@pyromaniac2104 it means it's the first relationship that the listener character has ever been in that WASN'T abusive or toxic whatsoever, a relationship that's actually founded in genuine love and care. the previous series was about comfort AFTER being in an abusive relationship and being reassured that the listener's new significant other ISN'T putting on an act like the previous one was. this is meant to show the early days of the listener being with Kat's character, and starting to learn that not all relationships are toxic/abusive.

This will sound very cheesy and dumb, but here it goes. Even in the darkest and most frightening of times, there can be a spark of hope. This spark could be a certain event, a friend, or a group of friends. Excellent job Kat. There's never any shame to be had when you need help.

I've never been in an abusive relationship of this type, i.e. dating, but ive been in lots of others abusive relationships, particularly my family, and while this series doesn't perfectly apply, it's really helping me deal with it right now. I only recently realized i was being abused, with the help of the few non abusive family members who I've been kept away from my whole life, and it's all hitting me at once, and I'm having a really hard time dealing with it. These audios have been basically on repeat since I found them, and if im being honest, are a big part of the reason I'm still here right now. So thank you. It feels laughably inadequate to just say thank you, but it's all I can do right now

I'll be honest, there are times when I ask for help for something that seems so simple, I feel pathetic. Sometimes asking for help is helpful, depending on the situation. Anways, very well done. Keep up the good work.

This was really great, a lot of necessary things people need to hear were said. It’s been over 3 years now since I got out of a relationship that was a lot like the one described (not down to the ‘threatening suicide’ depths but my ex was in that same mental space, as was I at the time) and I had to cut things off for my own wellbeing. Just remember you can’t help anyone if you aren’t in a good position yourself, take care of yourselves for that reason, among others. And yeah, like Kat says, learn to give up. I might be putting it a little bit harsher and I encourage people to help whoever and however they can but never waste your efforts and never be taken advantage of.

I’ve never been in a relationship because I feel like I don’t deserve something like that. I’ve been depressed and filled with self hatred for so long now that I have a hard time understanding how someone could actually love me. Not like my family because they are obligated to love me which I see as unfortunate for them. I don’t love me so why would they. I wish I could have something but I know I can’t because I don’t deserve something like that.

I know that feeling really well. I currently am in a relationship, and sometimes it’s hard to understand how my partner sees any value in me. I often feel like I don’t deserve them or their love, but they disagree and they (and my antidepressants) are helping me look at things differently. I know from experience just how hard it can be, but letting someone love you can be a very eye-opening experience
