Part 1: Let's Build Another Narrow Gauge Flat Car for the 7.5" Gauge Train

This is the first part of a series in which I build a 5' long narrow gauge truss rod flat car to carry a passenger on my 7.5" gauge train. On my channel you can also find two earlier videos on the shorter steam locomtive flat car/tender project. In this video I'll discuss frame construction, coupler pockets, stake pockets, hand rails, and safety chain brackets.
On previous projects I made my own arch bar trucks and axles, with Tom Bee wheels pressed on. For this project I had several Plum Cove Studios arch bar trucks laying around my shop so I used them: www.plumcovest...
Plastic couplers are from BNRSTEXAS www.bnrstexas...., but they have a weight limit so best used for shorter trains.
Metal couplers used on my other flat car and the Green Goose and from Tom Bee tombeeonline.c...

Ahhhh... good old stuck relay contacts. A problem so classic it gives me nostalgia. Good work on the quickfix

Thanks! My years of owning British cars taught some helpful troubleshooting with the multi meter! The bonk with a shapie on the relay was not expected to work but 2 weeks later and it's still going.

Have you been doing anything on track construction, recently. How is the track coming along?

I considered laying track around the house but the curves would be tight and the deck is in the way. The cost outweighed the benefit so I joined Kitsap Live Steamers and Train Mountain.
