I love your idea that it is a miracle when Jesus cleansed the temple. It truly was a miracle. So we learn that we should keep ourselves clean because our bodies are temples.

8:37 As you were describing this miracle of the calm colt/foal being able to climb the steep path, carry a person, go down a street with a lot of noise and distraction, and all the rest of it, you wondered at how this little guy could handle all this difficulty. The thought that came to me was that its mother was there and walking in front of the colt and the colt watched and followed mom. This isn’t scriptural, and I agree that Jesus’ presence had something to do with it, but I have seen children strengthened to do incredible things by trusting and following their parents. Thanks for a great lesson.

I believe that all the Jews had for transportation was donkeys. After so many conquering armies carried off the young and killed the old they took the spoils of war which were horses. Horses and mules were vehicles of war and I don't think Rome let the Jews have any power to revolt. All donkeys are good for is carrying loads slowly. Jesus came of present himself with humility and meekness. Even a mule would be above meekness.

I have a question…. Why was Mary the one washing Jesus’s feet? Is there a cultural explanation to who is the one that has this role?
@scripturecentralofficial
@scripturecentralofficial Жыл бұрын
The act of Mary washing Jesus's feet can be understood within the context of cultural norms and spiritual significance. While there may not be specific details provided in LDS scripture or teachings regarding this particular incident, we can draw insights from broader principles and cultural practices. In the biblical account found in the New Testament, Mary is described as washing Jesus's feet with her tears and drying them with her hair (Luke 7:36-50, John 12:1-8). It is important to note that this event occurred in the home of Simon the Pharisee, where Jesus had been invited for a meal. In the cultural context of Jesus's time, foot washing was often performed as an act of hospitality and humility. In ancient Near Eastern societies, where footwear consisted of sandals or open-toed shoes, people's feet would become dirty from walking on dusty and unpaved roads. Washing someone's feet upon entering a home was a customary gesture of respect and care for the guest's comfort. Furthermore, the act of washing feet can symbolize humility and service in the LDS faith. Latter-day Saints strive to follow the example of Jesus Christ, who taught that greatness comes through serving others (Matthew 20:26-28). The Savior Himself exemplified this principle when He washed the feet of His disciples, demonstrating the importance of humble service (John 13:1-17). Regarding Mary being the one to wash Jesus's feet, it is worth considering her relationship with Jesus and the context of the event. Mary was known for her deep love and devotion to the Savior, and her act of washing His feet can be seen as an expression of her profound gratitude and reverence for Him. This act may also reflect her desire to serve and show hospitality to Jesus as a distinguished guest in her home. In summary, Mary's act of washing Jesus's feet can be understood as an expression of love, gratitude, and humble service. While there may not be specific cultural explanations regarding Mary's role in this particular incident, the act of foot washing was a customary gesture of hospitality and humility in ancient Near Eastern societies. Additionally, Mary's devotion to Jesus and her desire to serve Him likely played a significant role in her decision to perform this act.

Why do they say the son of david? Wasn't his father Joseph?
@NDEuclid
@NDEuclid Жыл бұрын
King David was in one of the genealogies in Matthew 1 that Jesus is descended from. The one in Luke 3 doesn't list King David. Part of the problem is that what determines if you are Jewish is determined by your mother, not the father. That is what Luke is doing.

I love it... wow, there are two more miracles! The miracle of the mule and the miracle of the cleansing of the Temple. I wonder how the Lord's voice came to the mule and the sellers in the Temple. To the mule a voice of perfect mildness and calm and to the sellers and guards a voice that shook them with fear?

In gratitude for your work and to recognize it is not only unbroken donkeys that respond! True Sabbath The sky is a constant wind licking warm wheaten earth where holy feet press a path (though each stalk bows on its own). Lone grains, a pale meal Rubbed open by grateful hands angel wings open - husks flying off a sacrament of bread in the raw. Hearts strain close to understand what cannot be seen nor heard. Acacia stands all thorns, branches heavy with shame - even before the plaiting. But the Light! The life of it all is the Light dancing above the dust and broken letters of the law. One raven flying low Caught up in all this rolls in a sudden gust and is surprised to find praise singing on his tongue.

Another thought that occurred to me regarding the guest at the wedding; he would not have been admitted without the garment but he later rejected it for what ever reason. If he had gotten in without it, those in charge of the feast would have been under condemnation. So he did what was needed to get in, but to remain was not fitting or not grand enough or not of his liking, so he cast off what was needed to remain, and when questioned, was left without excuse.

A mule can only be created by a male donkey and a female horse. Mules are sterile due to chromosomal problems so mules cannot have offspring. So a foal or colt of and ass can only be a donkey. Zechariah 9:9 says he is "Thy King cometh unto thee: lowly,and riding upon an ass, upon a colt the foal of an ass." The colt is a male foal.
