I am enjoying the hell out of watching this video. IMAHKUS is the reason I'm moving to Rwanda! So glad that she has made it there. She told me about all the positive aspects of Rwanda in November, 2018 when I visited her One Africa Resort. I researched the country and decided 'yep' this is the place for me. Actively purging and planning to move there mid-2021. Thank you, IMAHKUS!

love her stories, however; wanted to highlight on her statement towards the end, please don't take that as a fact and run, Dogs and Cats are still considered domestic pets in Africa just like everywhere else, (there may be some random one off group of people or tribes or so that happen to eat them), but please note this is definitely not the norm and is actually frowned upon and seen as weird even in Africa!

@CJ J while i appreciate your "common sense" statement, please be aware that this media output is going out globally, one of the main aims of these diaspora channels such as unapologetic nomads is to highlight Africa to the west to change it's already poorly portrayed image. I too wish i didnt have to say what i did, it should be common sense, but trust me, there are people out there that still mistake Africa for "papau new Guinea natives" or "sentinel island tribes" as these are some of the images still shown to the west and they aren't even African! So to start saying we eat domestic pets, some ignorant people may start thinking that is on the menu at every local restaurant or something silly. With Africa you have to really educate people at times, i do my little to specifics to reduce the damage, even if i only reach one person.

@@dotunn that's a waste of time because ignorant people will think with a one track mind anyway. People that are open thinkers will know this is not everywhere. Just like here in usa we know some people eat pigs or snakes and some here look at it as an abomination. We know it's not everyone that do. There are some pple who do not eat any meat at all (vegans) and some others may find that strange.

She saying that there was no water and airconditioners in Ghana is erroneous. She makes it sound like the entire Ghana did not have water and airconditioners at that time. She is probably referring to a specific town or area she was living ar the time. For the record, I am from Ghana and I have also lived in the States.

@@Ghanadiaries I know she lives in Cape Coast, as I have seen her being interviewed by ES and other vloggers. I had know idea she had moved to Rwanda. Evidently, she now plans to live permanently in Rwanda. I really do not appreciate the way she erroneously portrayed Ghana when she was talking about the lack of water, airconditioners and eating of cats and dogs, without putting her narration in the proper context. Quite honestly, she was appalling in that regard.
@backtotheoldway6964
@backtotheoldway6964 4 жыл бұрын
@@denniscasely-hayford3245 You have not put it in the proper context either, which is curious, as you are appalled by the omission. When you make a complaint, educate. If you have information you would like people to know about dogs and cats, like the fact that they are normally consumed as part of religious proceedings, let people know. You could point out the cultural basis for the practice. Highlight the peoples and area where the practice is prevalent. And so on. This way, people learn more about Ghana. All you've done is throw out negative energy, and this is why people seem to be missing your message. You did not fill your message with positive education. If you don't wish to educate, that's a satisfactory position. But at that point you no longer should be surprised that people do not have information you refused to provide.
@denniscasely-hayford3245
@denniscasely-hayford3245 4 жыл бұрын
@@backtotheoldway6964 I do not have the time and energy to delve into salient details and provide information on the specifics of cat and dog eating in Ghana. So to your point, I do not want to educate. However, I succinctly stated that it is not a pervasive practice among the entire people of Ghana, which her statement appeared to suggest. It is a fact that there are certain tribes that indeed eat cats and dogs in Ghana, as do in other countries. Her abject broad generalization is my bone of contention, as she could have been contextual in opinining on the subject matter.

@JC * depending on uor definition of Panafricanism. Many things I don't like about the Country but... Rwanda is the fist African Country to make visa on arrival to every Afrikan passport holder. Meaning, any African could just land in Rwanda anytime without applying a visa from his/her home country. Later, Ethiopia and Ghana copied it. Rwanda has an enterprise Government, they see any visitor or buyer (Diasporans, Asians and European alike) as a potential to growth. Diasporan, Chinese, Indian, African, European .Rwanda doesn't care about historic ties.they promote growth. they promote globalization, They promote African free trade, free movement and integration. Very rare in African politics. All Rwanda cares is progress, they don't give damn who join in. They have their ills but on progressive Panafricanism... Not bad, although they don't sick attention on public space. They are far better than many Leaders who talk Panafricanism and do nothing to show it. Rwandans have opened gates to any money holder, in return u guaranteed security in Rwanda.

Again, another broad generalization by her and I am getting pissed off with her erroneous remarks. The fact of the matter is that in the main, people in Ghana do not eat cats and dogs. Those who eat these animals are in the minority; a particular tribe, for example. It should be pointed out most people keep these animals as pets in the house or in the case of some dogs, guard dogs that sleep outside and provide additional security to home owners. I hope unapologetic nomads are not beginning to think that Ghana is some backward country, as she at times makes broad generalizations and inaccurate statements. Whilst, one is talking about cats and dogs, it is commonplace in parts of China to find people who eat cats and dogs and is a delicacy.

I love One Afrika in Ghana. You are with an African Queen. A Sage, philosopher. A true Pan Africanist. Ambassador extraordinaire. Please remain absolutely, unapologetically nomadic and visit One Afrika in Ghana.

Why are there so many comments rejecting the eating of dogs and cats? Are you vegan or vegetarian? If you're not, ask yourself why you're creating hierarchies of animals.

Greetings Unapologetic Nomad, this is huge, momma Imahkus living in Rwanda 🇷🇼 now. She moved from Ghana 🇬🇭 to Rwanda, this speaks volumes as I was thinking of moving to Ghana, however I have changed my mind seeing momma Imahkus there in Rwanda. Thanks so much for sharing as Rwanda is now on my relocation list.

Great video. It reminded me of how great it would be for Africans in the Diaspora (slave descendants) to know their real last names. If you're interested or you know of someone who would be interested in finding their last name, there is a gentlemen who knows how to obtain the last name of someone who has lost their original last name. It can take time to get the last name sometimes.
