Charlie, I live in St. Johns area. There are some ponds and rivers in this area that are lower water levels than I can remember seeing in my 58 year life.

Are there 2 Cold Brooks in Newfoundland? I live in Cold Brook just outside Stephenville. I went and took a video after watching this. I SXS the trails and have to cross this brook every other day. Its not dry. Please elaborate more.

Watch the second video, and yes the Cold Brook outside Stephenville. The water that running where you cross is protected by the steep valleys which it runs out of. It runs dry down stream from there. If you walk out to the end of Whites Lane you'll see what's happening. Part 2 I'm editing now.

Yup, we have had a dry year Charlie.......our well is dry and now we need a drilled well.........that's the way she goes.....can't fight nature so we have to adapt my friend.

A brook with no lake for headwater and less snowpack will dry up!! And there isn’t a politician out there that can change that.

I’m in Port Blanford here and the rivers and brooks are lower this year too , wouldn’t call it a drought here yet though as I’ve seen them this low in previous years . In on the Avalon though there’s barrels of water , seems the farther we go west the lower the water levels are . Hopefully it’s not something that becomes a regular concern. Great video though thanks for the upload . On another note is there any new info out your way regarding cougars or any new sightings? Cheers

I live on the Avalon & I am self sufficient with what my little farm can provide. When I harvested my crops this year, for the first time in the 30 years I have farmed this land, I am seeing the soil deep baked hard in lumps. I haven't seen that before. I am also seeing lakes so low that rocks are exposed that I haven't seen before. Sure we have rain but it is not enough. What is going on? I don't have any answers.

I hope and pray this is not the new norm... I was in the Marystown area in early August and was shocked at the low water levels in those rivers. All across the island was hit hard this year.

Brooks are not rivers and they will sometimes dry up , did you go to were the brook starts , it must come from somewhere .

Over this way the salmon is just starting to go up the rivers, it was very low water in the rivers this year.

NL is not drying up, we are not in a drought. we are not even in any form of drought. we are actually loaded with fresh water. its just your area is not getting much rain this year. stop with the lies. i can literally go outside my back door and throw rocks in a rushing river. one of many around here . NL has minor droughts every ten years or so and it is never much of a problem. all we have to do is wait a few months for a few thousand tons of snow or fall rain. it rains all spring and fall in NL.

I live on the Avalon. I am a self sufficient farmer & believe me when I say the land is dry. Deep in the soil the earth is baked into lumps of baked earth. Ask any farmer & they will tell you the same thing. There is something drastic going on with Cole Brook. Can some explain this?

I live in Cold Brook and cross this almost daily. Just checked and its still wet. In the spring Cold brook is raging. The rest of the year you can cross on pedal bike.

@@reginaldwinsor2759 what is the name of your farm. and what is a self sufficient farmer. i live smack dab in the middle of farm land and the crops are great, the cattle feed harvest is/was great. the fields are green as ever and the farmers are busy as ever. deep in the soil has nothing to do with the river. its run off from the winter fall. its all melted or has changed direction. there is nothing wrong with newfoundland weather. to say we have a drought problem tells me you are either not even in newfoundland or are intentionally lying. its makes no sense to say otherwise. its been raining here for about five days straight now.

​@upupandaway2728 I'm in torbay lots of rain down this way. June broke the record for most rainfall ever recorded for the avalon area. Mid July to Sept were quite dry but certainly drouts, no wells went dry down my way even shallow dug wells. I can't speak for the rest of NL but a quick goggle search has all that information. I don't doubt the man is lieing about that brook being totally dry he's walking on it and recording it. We can get night and day different weather from one part of nl to the other

I live in Western NL and you are absolutely right, it's called climate change. This is the hottest, driest summer in my memory, and this is the normal trend now. Hotter summers and milder winters. So wake up people and get your heads out of the sand.
