Well don't those metal cuirassiers look like cool sculpts! Hope Perry is paying you for the advertising. ; ) I like the idea of setting them a bit off on the stands, and Ilove the bit about the brown uniforms, very cool. Will watch the other videos on painting these soon, thank you!

Aha unfortunately not, they're just one of my preferred manufacturers so I have a lot of their figures. I'm glad you enjoyed the video, I would add that a bit of irregularity in basing on infantry stands if possible is also visually appealing to me.

I'm close to painting some 18mm AB cuirassiers, so this was very insightful. Looking forward to part 2.

Thank you, I’m glad it was helpful. I’ve painted several units of AB French cuirassiers in the past, my 18mm scale collection is my favourite.

Nice video an enjoyable watch while I paint, I’m one of those who paint black then complete areas so funny

Thanks I’m glad you enjoyed it! I don’t know how you do it without the constant anxiety of ruining that part at a later stage.

Thanks - I think the secret is sometimes in the quality of the miniatures themselves, these are a joy to paint.

Too good an opportunity to miss when I realised they would fit in with my 1813 collection. They'll be brigaded with five squadrons of Dragoons at some point in the future.

Thank you very much, I’m just in the process of finishing the last things necessary to upload a video of them completed.

Really interesting to hear your process. Re: washes - do you mean you do a layer, wash it, and then do the same layer colour over the area entirely, or as your first highlight on the raised parts?
@thelastbattalion35093 жыл бұрын
I realise that it's a slightly confusing explanation on reflection. On top of the primer I will normally paint a 'foundation' colour - say a dark brown for the wooden/leather parts etc. But that isn't the colour that's necessarily going to be worked up. So if it's a backpack that's got a foundation colour of dark brown and it's actual colour is going to be mid brown then that mid-brown is the one which will get the wash between layers. It helps me keep track of the detail (in this case the cow hide sculpting), gives it a little bit of shade. It can allow for the second coat to not quite cover 100% of the first one, like the world's widest ranging highlight. I'll then do however many highlights I have decided upon on top of that. I hope that makes more sense.

Any chance of a step by step on how you paint your faces. Your technique is similar to mine regarding uniforms etc but your faces look marvellous.

I’m sure I can either work that in to a future video of film something bespoke. It’s essentially the exact same process as any other part of the miniature.
