I've used this method on a couple broken totes now and it works great, I did apply water to one half of the break.

Great film, thanks for posting, and taking time to make these films, they are a very good learning resource for all, thank you. I used vertical splines in my last two tote repairs, both had been repaired previously like in this film but failed after a year or two. So far they are holding, I have done a fare bit of planing with the one of them the last six months. Gorilla glue is very strong and so is pva but I notice that when a new brake occurs it is always on or around the glue join not in the unbroken wood. The claim one generally hears, that the glue is stronger than the wood, is misleading since you can never repeat the intertwined nature of the fibres of wood when repairing a broken piece. I think the load is better distributed in unbroken wood than glued. For this reason some of the strengthening inventions for joints can be justified. I admit I am brutal with my planes, otherwise they wouldn't brake in the first place. All the best, Lucas.

When I work with urethane glues (like Gorilla Glue), I always have some rags and rubbing alcohol ready to go. I think it's the best thing to clean excess glue and glue off your hands.

I have a 6 inch piece of threaded bar with a plate on one end and a butterfly on the other. Glue the pices and put this through the hole tighten

Why do you use lacquer spray instead of acrillac spray. Min Wax paste Wax uses paint thinner to clean up . Lacquer spray uses lacquer thinner to clean up and usually the finish separates when it meets paint thinner. Apparently you do not get that separation.

yeah, I think the other one might have broken because you didnt apply water to the gorilla glue. GG is H2O activated.
