Today, we try to pick up a 390 Big Block 1966 Galaxie that has been sitting in an overgrown backyard and essentially abandoned for 35 years. With multiple trees and vines in the way, we try to get the old girl rolling and out onto the street from it's gravesite, in order to drag it back to base for a future "will it start" video and eventual use as a parts donor for a relatively rust free 66 Galaxie rolling shell project that we have.
If you have something old and cool, and would like to challenge us to do a "WILL IT START?" video using your vehicle, or you have a vehicle that you are willing to donate to us as a challenge or cheap purchase, then shoot us an email at shellberightgarage@gmail.com along with a few pictures and some details, and we'll get back to you!
If you enjoy watching this channel and our builds, and would like to help see it grow, please consider making a donation to paypal.me/shel...

Amazing extraction. Aussie can do attitude ! You Tube showed me part II first. I had to see the first part. I said the body wasn't worth anything, but on second look all the other parts are good, like the grill, headlight bezels, bumpers, and all the tail light assemblies. So far as I can see all the chrome trim pieces too. Good luck mates ! 👍😎🍺

When I was teenager my Dad had a 1963 Ford Galaxie 500 2 door Coup (not the fastback that introduced that year). I believe it had a 351 in it (Don't know if was Cleveland or a Windsor engine). It was a nice automobile. That "jungle" looks like something you'd find in Florida (we do have a lot of transplanted Aussie trees and bushes here).

i don't know a lot about Aussie, but I do know that there's no way in hell I would go anywhere near that overgrown section without at the very least, a snake wrangler, a medic, 10 cans of Blackflag and 2 pairs of welding gauntlets on. Living in NZ all we have to worry about in a situation like this is attack Wetas and big black spiders, that don't bite but look shitty. The whole time I was watching this vid I was waiting for a snake or spider attack or even a drop bear but nothing. Fun times eh. Cheers from NZ, Phil.

Tell you what, that might be a rusted turd of a chassis, but a lot of the trim looks really good. All the badges, even the 427 side badges are there! Thought they would have gone long ago. Take all the good bits off and scrap the chassis, and you'll have a great little parts collection, nice one!

What a shame. Do you know the back story? At least the parts will help another Galaxie live. Our Aussie ones received front discs in 1967.

The basic story is that the car is now from a deceased estate. I believe when something went wrong with a vehicle, another was purchased with the prior one essentially forgotten. In the end, a lot of stuff ended up like this. It's a shame, but I'm grateful to have the opportunity to use all these wonderful parts for the other rolling shell that we have.

If you have a good shell there should be enough hard to find parts on that old girl to make one good one out of the two. The grill and headlight area look to have stood up well and i'm sure there's plenty of trim parts that will clean up a treat

I remember a friend in high school got a 2 door in 1978, his dad put in a used 409 police interceptor with a 4 barrel and found out how fast we were going in it and put a 2 barrel carb on it to slow us down to 140 mph. Heck of a nice riding car at 120, floated like a plane. I think the son got in trouble with it too many times and his dad relieved him of it. nice rescue!

What a damn shame.....I love those Galaxies.... You've got some really good bits from that, and you've got a rust free shell? That'll be a grouse build.....What's the back story ? I recon they look every bit as good as a 65 Impala.....

As far as I'm aware, the original owner just bought a replacement car as it was easier when something broke or failed. Unlike most though, he didn't want to part with any, so this one ended up like that, essentially forgotten.

Love the video! Do you know any history on the car or why it was abandoned for so long? I like the early transit too, parts for those are becoming extremely difficult to find as well. Can't wait to see if you manage to fire up the 390.
@shellberightgarage
@shellberightgarage 2 жыл бұрын
Basic story being that if something went wrong with a car, it was easier to just replace it. Fortunately for me, they weren't disposed of back in the day like most people did, making for quite the pile up of vehicles and items. The original owner has since passed. This old girl will at least bring another car back to life instead of being lost forever, which is awesome.

Lol. Yeah, it takes it's toll, particularly when you know that with each day the car is more exposed to the street and passers by. Once I hit a certain point, I just wanted the car out to safety where I can keep an eye on it.

@@shellberightgarage When I was a young fella, my mate had a 64 Galaxy 390. I loved it. Drove so good. King of the road. Back then, I had a XM Futura Hardtop. Wish I still had it now. The XM Hardtops looked so good. Seemed to look better than the XP.

Nah, it was all rotten. It was so bad that the spring shackles snapped off, and the u bolts holding the axles were long rusted away, to the point that the wheels just fell off the springs. The mudguards were decent, and have been kept for my own car trailer.

I’ve had a lot of luck with Inox, but it’s pricey. I’ve used farm machinery grade hydraulic fluid in the past as well with success.. I have no doubt she’ll go, unless it is seized solid from shredding that rear tyre 30 years ago😎
