I am from a fortunate generation that coincided with the prime singing period of the divine voice called Lata Mangeshkar. I always chided my children that come what may their generation shall always be poorer for not having a voice even remotely comparable to Lataji. I found I was wrong (pleasantly) the moment I heard Vibhavari Apte the first time. I fervently hope that there are music directors now who can really create musical magic with her voice the way Lataji's voice created with music director's of the 50's, 60', and the 70's.

Tears roll down by cheek, when I hear the song "Aaj Socha To Ansoo Bahr Aaye" sung by Vibhavari. What a reticent rendition, and the stunning diction? One more proof that God resides in the voices of a few. The music accompanists have also done a marvellous job, trying to recreate the original tone, and depth. They also are gifted by God.

Others have sang Lata ji's songs, but they only sing the notes and don't have the God given beautiful tone in the voice. This is the first singer I've heard who had that same beauty in the tone of her voice. Wow! I missed hearing that.
