Thank you very much. How do I determine the specific parameters of the bump foil? For example, parameters such as bump height and bump spacing.
@RotorDynamics5 ай бұрын
Thank you for your question. Determining the specific parameters of the bump foil, including bump height and bump spacing, involves a combination of theoretical analysis, empirical data, and sometimes iterative testing. I'll be addressing this topic in an upcoming video, so please stay tuned for more detailed information.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts! In Parts 16 and 17, we delve into the fascinating realm of gas foil bearings, while Part 21 explores the intricate details of herringbone grooved gas bearings. Our video is dedicated to the intricate world of rotor dynamics. Should you have specific inquiries about gas foil bearings, I'd be delighted to provide more detailed insights and make more videos based on your questions. Feel free to share any questions you may have, and if you enjoyed the video, we'd greatly appreciate it if you could pass it along to your fellow engineering enthusiasts. Thanks again for your engagement! :)

If someone has no experience with foil bearings, this video is a good advertisement for these bearings. In fact, this is a more difficult issue.

Thank you so much! And if it's possible, would you mind kindly introduce some applications of ceramic bearings plus external dampers in high-speed tubro, and issues related to pass the critical speed and stiffness damping?For high-speed machines, I have always been a little confused about the choice of air foil bearings, magnetic bearings and high-speed ceramic ball bearing. Thank you again!

@@RotorDynamics "I am your loyal follower. I have watched your new video, liked, and subscribed. I gained a lot from it, thank you very much! If possible, in your new video,would you mind kindly compare the advantages and disadvantages of traditional gear-driven centrifugal compressors (5.5-12.5 barg) and magnetic or air foil bearing compressors? Happy new year!

@@RotorDynamics I've recently noticed in the market some 2-stage and 3-stage magnetic suspension centrifugal compressors with speeds ranging from 40,000 rpm to 60,000 rpm and overall power between 300-400 kW. I'm wondering if this type of machine might be the future trend compared to traditional gear-driven compressors.
