Great Videos, had a 2000 Chevy Vortex 454 7.4 out of my RV that had SPUN ROD Bearing and if i did not watch your videos the motor would have blown up motor within a few miles, your message clean clean clean resonated and I brush scrubbed all the oil galleys followed with pressure washer. Then cleaned each lifter and entire motor. And then I cleaned it 5 more times. Had rods sized and checked for straightness and New crank balanced and installed as per one of your videos it has 4 bolt mains. I am replacing the radiator and lines as i suspect metal chips are in there also. Thank you so much!!!

Hey MAKAVLLI228, Thanks for taking the time to post! Man that's a great question, I've only used solid lifters so unfortunately I can't answer that question. You could call Comp Cams and ask them directly. Have a great day! Johnny K

Awesome man, Liked and subscribed. I'm building a 468 right now. I've had it done for about 2 years now. I've made about 15, 125' passes on it. (Mud racing) This is my first "hardcore" engine,Sorta. I just switched from a .540 lift hyd cam to a .640 Howards solid. Made a 3 passes and it ate a push rod. That is when i realized i was running 5/16's pushrods. They are stock length. I'm not even sure if thats what i need. I don't know if i grasp all this valve talk yet,haha.

Really appreciate the detail you give on each video. You're videos have as much detail as a good shop manual. Your explanations plus the video make a great instructional tool. Do have a question on this video. Given the weight of those cylinder heads, would it make sense to use a cherry-picker to help in the process of mounting the heads on the engine? I a.m planning to change out my stock heads for some Dart iron eagle heads that weigh each over fifty pounds. I am not excited about lifting the heads over my fenders and onto the engine. Would like to have as much control as possible when locating the heads on the dowels and gaskets and at the same time saving my back. Any thoughts? Any tips? Thanks Ace

John ...GREAT job sharing some good info!!! ...BUT I have one question, you show how you checked 1 cylinder, can you assume it's the same on all the other cylinders, without checking each one?
@johnnykcarsnguitars10 жыл бұрын
Hey m551tanker, That's a great question. I only checked one because these are the same Lunati push rods that the engine builder used 20 years ago. Call up Trend Performance (they make push rods for the "brand name" manufactures. and ask that question, as they are the experts and they can give you the correct answer. Let me know what they say, that's a really good question. Thanks for taking the time to post! Have a great day Johnny K

My 2 cents just give them a call explain your situation and the experts will steer you in the correct direction....and offer a top notch push rod for your application Have a great Day Johnny K
