As expats that moved from the US to the Netherlands there are naturally so questions that people would like to ask...and you did! There is no need to apologise for not disclosing specific dollar amounts you have saved or earn. As direct as the dutch might be in asking questions about that, the answer can be just as direct: "Heb je niks mee te maken", or "None of your business". 😂

I agree. It's kind of weird. We would never ask those questions in person. But we do have these questions in our mind. Maybe it's dutch? We are always wondering how other people (our neighbours) get by. It's in the song. 17 million people. We love everyone, but we don't understand how they pay their rent. And we just wanna know. 😁 So i understand the questions because its not face to face personal, but just internet. That makes people a bit bolder. But i still agree!

Efteling is capable of changing everyone's mind. It's literally magic. I went first time in the sixties, being 5 or 6 years old. Been back every decade after and still it enchants me beyond belief. Not talking about the roller coasters, though they're great as well. No, it's the fairy tales and things like "Droomvlucht". The magic. Even old stuff like "Langnek", "Holle Bolle Gijs" and the fakir, the magic carpet ride. And of course the "Indische Waterlelies", designed by Queen Fabiola of Belgium. Those really capture everyone, especially at a young age.

Tammy, It's incredible how much more relaxed you are in the videos compared to when you started to join Eric on camera a while ago. My final decision after watching for 18 minutes. You are ordinary people who seek happiness and find it in the Netherlands. You are your own, just like me (Bert) and Annet from Amsterdam and Haarlem who live in the middle (Hoofddorp) and just want to lead a nice and happy life. Well, I'm going to be a grandpa for the first time at the end of August. How exciting! I hope it makes me a little extra happy. And our grandson (will be a boy) will be a mixture of a Chinese mother and an African father. With two white grandparents. Fantastic!!!

Haarlem (capitol of North Holland) has a starting place for the Cammino. It's called the Rosenstock-Huessy huis. It has the scallop near the door (used to be called Saint Jacob Gods house) You can look it up. Also Haarlem is a gorgeous place to visit anyway. Amsterdam without the tourists... Has the oldest museum of Europe f.e. the Teylers Museum. And many other great historic facts and figures. For instance the Kenau park with her statue was named after Kenau Simonsdochter Hasselaer. A widow who owned a shipyard with her daughters. During the war with Spain, when all the men had gone to battle, she raised an army of women who managed to defend Haarlem and kept the Spaniards away long enough for William of Orange to reach Amsterdam safely. Nowadays Kenau is still a nickname for a willful woman with a big mouth...

@@SoultoSoulTravels I live in Haarlem. There is a nice windmill: Molen de Adriaan. And many HOFJES, which means: small almshouses set around a central courtyard. They were build by the rich for poor elderly ladies. For elderly men there were 'Armenhuizen' (Poor men's houses) where men lived together in big wards, because they thought men weren't able to take care of themselves. No Armenhuis left in Haarlem, but Amsterdam still has one. The HOFJES are free to visit, but closed on sunday's. And the big church (simpley called: 'The big church or The BAVO) on the Central Marketplace is famous. It's has the biggest wooden tower in Europe and a huge church-organ.

About the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. Paulo Coelho is one of my favorite writers and he wrote a book about it called the 'Pilgrimage'. It's how he decided to become a writer and he's spiritual but not overly religious. Many great books followed. I do recommend reading this book. It's a spiritual journey. He's Brazilian but his books are also available in English.

We live 42 years in New Zealand and having our 4 month long annual summer holiday in the Netherlands we’re we were born . We missing good cheese , krokets , frikandels , drop and much more , so we go on a diet to loose some weight before our trip because we know we WILL gain at least 6 kg or more . We stay mainly in Limburg ( 5 min walk from Germany) were the Limburgse Vlaai comes from which at least count s for 4 kg weight gain is coming from. I hope you both enjoy The Netherlands the same as we do, we have just under 3 months to go here before we go back home to New Zealand.

Tammy if you like the cold and taking a walk you should do what i often did with my sister. It does not happen often anymore but if you get a evening of goed hard snowing then you should take a walk throu the streets at night, i mean at between 3 and 5 a clock at night. It is so beautiful and peaceful you feel really great doing that. Everything looks so clean and white, still no cars disturbing the snow yet and so quiet then. YOU REALLY SHOULD TRY IT. Me and my sister we called each other at night when one of us discover it had snowed and i would jump on my bicycle and bike to her and we go waking throu the streets, is super. Especially if it has stopped snowing and sometimes we had a moon and then it is just like fairyland..

If you like to see al the flowers en other blooming nature in the Efteling don't wait till december, Itś winter efteling then, also very nice but more of a winter wonderland. It can be very crowed, but if you go there on a weekly schoolday you should be alright. And Eric maybe you are not a fan of themeparks, but you haven't seen the Efteling yet. It just might change your mind ;-)

Tip: 3th week of july the 4 days marches is started in Nijmegen. The biggest walk event of the world. You may not missed it. The 2nd day, wednesday, is pink walking day. Don't wait too long to go to the Efteling I suggest. The place is beautiful when all trees and plants are lush and green. It is a different world there. Not quite true, while language and culture, art and music the Netherlands (both what it is now 'Belgium' and The Netherlands itself) goes back for at least 700 or 800 years back. communication by written Dutch between cities and area's all over The Netherlands were phonetically quite the same. The current Dutch changed not as much in comparance to English, German or scandinavian or even Frisian. Dutch remained the most conservativ of all western-germanic languages. Differences in accent (dialect) came later on. You May very well assume that language couvers architecture very well. (until the republic started)

Not quite directness is not so much in small villages in the West where everyone knows each other. Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague are much more direct than people in small villages. I know because I am from a small village in the West and worked with loud mouths in Amsterdam, horrible experience.

@@SoultoSoulTravels Eventually all longer existing KZbin channels you will see these automatic bots posting scams. They probably target a KZbin channel when they reach a certain minimum amount of members that makes it interesting for them post as some people fall for the scam. From now on you will probably see bots posting scams on every video as I have seen happen on other channels as well. KZbin itself cant stop them or they dont bother too I dont know. Maybe you can say it in your video that this can happen and you are not the ones posting this, this way you dont have to monitor all the scam comments that will probably going to keep coming in future as I have seen happen with other KZbinrs.

Went to Verona couple years back. Found out that I like Italy a lot :). But If I can make a suggestion… I live in the north of NL. Visit one of the wadden islands for a long weekend. We do it regularly. I like Ameland in particular. You can rent a bike at the harbor. I recommend an electric bike (I am married to an angel too, but really not with headwind. It’s a jekyll and hyde thingy). Beautiful wide sand beaches and ofcourse drinking beer, eating bitterballen at the Sunset beachbar with a beautiful sunset. What’s in a name…

I doubt if someone ever falls for this petty attempt. However, other KZbin channels pin their own first reaction with info about possible scammers so it reminds your viewers not to react to the scammers. You can counter such questions with your own directness. Instead of just squirming around the answer trying to say a noncommitting answer in a polite way you can just say you don't want to talk about that ("Daar wil ik het liever niet over hebben.") . Or, a bit more blunt, that it's none of their business ("Dat gaat je niets aan!").

Eric and Tammi: I watched the entire film. Thank you for answering my questions about safety, peace of mind, traveling the rail, etc. :) Here is another observation I would like to make. I have seriously considered moving to Switzerland or Monaco. BOTH are quite "cost prohibitive", to say the least. :) There are fully furnished apartments in Monaco ranging from $ 3,950 to $ 5,000 per month. Personally, I think it is unnecessary to spend that kind of money. As you know, that is about the price OR LESS than unfurnished condos in any coastal town in Florida. And, South Florida is the most expensive of the state. But Monaco is the Riviera...so they want more. The reality is that the area has been economically destroyed by Macron and his "Covid Policies" ("Politics"). :) It will take years to recover. Further, Monaco is nothing more than a government that "sells residency". I saw that in the Caribbean. It is never "good". :) And, in Monaco, a Diet Coke is . . .$ 11.00 ! :) Switzerland is VERY spread out and the major cities offer apartment rents that are MORE than Monaco. The people are very friendly, but it is a country in which a Big Mac literally costs $ 20.00. Further, in either country, with "AFib" the idea of being a half hour to an hour from the nearest full service Emergency Room / Medical Facility....makes me very nervous. :) :) Every film you do just keeps "bringing me back" to the Netherlands. :) Would you please e-mail me so I may send you a private e-mail with enquiries ? Ok....listen....if you guys really want to integrate here and feel like you are one of us Dutch people, you got to learn to b***h about the weather. It's the national passtime. It's easy to get a hang of, just look out if its windy it's too windy, or too sunny, too cold, too rainy or not enough rain. It doesnt really matter, most of the time either of them will do just fine! And if that is a step too high still just roll your eyes and sigh "Ohhh man this weather we are having today, right?" I promiss, you will fot right in! (Born and bread in the Netherlands, and this was all in good fun...tho it is kinda true as well ;) )
