I just fixed my outboard after getting it back from service. The mechanic put a zip tie on the return line from the fuel rail. It was spraying fuel all over. It would not run correctly until I put a hose clamp on. No more problems after that. I would strongly suggest not using zip ties on fuel lines.

Great video. These are really good overbuilt engines overall. I believe it’s the same block as the Verado so it’s built extra strong to be supercharged. With good maintenance should last a long time.

Thanks for this video i just ordered the fuel filters and air filter, do you know if this motor has a has a fuel water separator? I cant find it and wanted to change that out.

Thanks for the video..I am going to do this to my Mercury 90.. I had some running issues the last time we were out before winter storage.. Do you ever cut the filter apart to see how much debris was inside?

@@EricGaskamp I have the same motor. Started up fine then stalled when I gave it throttle. My first fuel filter from the tank is installed backwards. Got it from the last service. Wondering if that’s why mine won’t start/run now.

@@tgcrushes15 That is a very good possiblity. Turn the filter around and see if that fixes it. If not, its also possible you lost a fuel pump, which is fairly common.

@@EricGaskamp I’m ordering a new filter. My initial thought was to do the same, but then I thought if it is clogged I would then be pushing all hay debris into the fuel pump.

Do you have to repressurize the fuel line?

It will re pressurize on its own once you put it all back together and turn the key to the ON position.

I do believe they are still available from Mercury Marine. If not, you may check ebay as a last resort.
