I previously had the 6hp Hangkai I sent it back with the return period and grabbed this model after watching your video.. I’m at the point in the break in process where I can go less than 3/4 throttle continuously & go full throttle for one minute every ten minutes.. Your video is very informative

@@fisherman_rue2403 like for like would be a Hangkai 6hp 2 stroke. These 4 strokes are about 15lbs heavier but use less fuel. Output wise they'll be similar. But an older 2 stroke was never meant to meet current emissions so less fuel consumption would be your first notice. I am going though 3 gallons every 10-12hrs which is about 1/4-1/2 gallon an hour.
@fisherman_rue24032 жыл бұрын
@@RedemptionReady Thank you. Output was my question. If they are similar there, then good. Do you have any input on going 2 vs 4 stroke aside from weight?
@RedemptionReady2 жыл бұрын
@@fisherman_rue2403 two strokes because they fire twice as many times as a four they tend to rev quicker and have higher torque. But when it comes to outboards, you'll get up on plane quicker with a 2 stroke and get the holeshot a bit faster. When you goto buy one vs the other one unique difference is the 2 stroke Hangkai is a Yamaha F6 clone and has an internal tank where the 4 stroke does not and is a Tohatsu MFS6B clone. So the 2 stroke you can run without an external tank, there is a hookup. Four strokes must have the tank and they come with one, 2 strokes don't they just have the internal which makes them about $100-150 cheaper. Noise... Well the fours are a bit quieter as well.

Hello mate, thanks for the amazing detailed video, I'm seeking your advice if you don't mind :), I'm a newbie to boats & all that stuff, Recently I've got a SIB 11 foot, Would you recommend a Suzuki 2.5HP or the Hangkai 4 stroke 6.5HP? Thanks in advance
@RedemptionReady Жыл бұрын
Well depends on what you want I guess. My Suzuki is now 9 years old. Starts everytime on the first pull and it's light. Visit any cruiser community dink dock and you'll find half the motors are Suzuki 2.5's. Really. Why? Probably the 5:year warranty, inexpensive to buy own and maintain, indestructible, light at 30lbs which makes a huge difference when your trying to get the engine off or on in a blow at anchor. But you must swap out the jets from the Eco friendly OEM to these 3-6 09491-66005 ▪ Main Jet #66 15-3 09492-34004 ▪ Pilot Jet #34 In my 10' SIB the Suzuki can push me, 2.5g gas can, air pump and dink anchor with various little bits to 6kts and plane, barely but planes. The 6.5 however I can add my wife and still plane. But while the Suzuki can push me up to 6kts the Hangkai could get me to 13, wife and I to 10 and all three adults to 9. The Suzuki with all three we do about 4. The Hangkai corrosion is a problem. And at 60lbs it's heavy. I'd also look into the 6hp 2 stroke at 40lbs. It's a Tohatsu M5B clone. And if 60lbs is ok with you on that 11' I'd seriously consider their 12hp 2 stroke. It's actually a 9.8 clone of the Tohatsu M9.8B engine. And it weighs only 59lbs! The 9.8 should get you and gear up over 20kts. Run Amsoil 2 stroke oil. The middle grade stuff. Works really well. I'll never give up my Suzuki though. It's just so damn reliable. It's lack of speed does make trips long. Never run ethanol fuel in any of these! It will corrode the aluminum in the carb and clogged it up before the tank is empty.

Question. I have a 6.5 hangkai engine and I bought it used but with 8 hours supposedly on it. I started it and got some black stuff looking grime on the tub I tested it in. Didn’t use new gas but it started right up. Do you know what that is ?

Could be anything. From grease in the torque tube and transom mount to leftover assembly lube coming out the exhaust. There decent engines but don't expect them to last. In salt water 3 years is about it and they literally fall to pieces.

Gonna go with the manual on this one. Handle side up. I've not laid it down yet as it's my method of travel to and from shore. But being a Tohatsu clone I'll trust the cloned manual and say Handle Side Up.

@@RedemptionReady The Hangkai manual and the sticker on the side of the motor are wrong. If you look at a Tohatsu or Mercury F6.0 manual you will see they recommend the engine be place on the tiller handle side. There is also a bump out on the front of the engine housing to support it laying on that side. Think about it. If you where to lay on that side, of what the sticker is showing, you would be laying the engine on the sifter side. That shifter is somewhat brittle and will eventually break from the engine laying on that side. Also, the oil fill plug is on the tiller handle side so you want the oil to move away from the piston. This will prevent oil from moving past the piston rings filling the combustion chamber full of oil and eventually moving it's way into the carburetor which are all on the opposite side of the tiller handle. In summary, you want the carburetor side on top as well as the shifter.
@RedemptionReady2 жыл бұрын
@@dgomes1967 yeah that's what i thought. I just transported it 1200 miles north but I had the power head lifted however it was laying on the shifter side. Good eye.

If you know how to wrench on an engine. Yes. For $900 it's a good deal. Only problem to date was the fuel connector at the engine, the pin inside bent over and stopped fuel flow. Removed the pin as the hose doesn't use it and it's fine.
