I love how you guys made this video wearing mask on. It just shows that wearing face mask should be normal in this time of pandemic whenever we are exposed to other people. Us asians usually have no issue wearing face mask. Its good to show people from the west that face mask is okay. ❤️

You need to do a little research but there are multiple studies done in last 18 months proving masks do not effectively spreading of Covid. Latest is from Waterloo univ showing at best the mask only reducing spread by 10%. Knowing this you should not look down or scold anyone not wearing one. If it makes you feel better to west one knock yourself out I won’t condemn you

@@wesleyhackney right. Coz people dont wear their mask properly. It can prevent infection, it has been a common practice to wear it when you are sick. Mask did not just come out in the market during the pandemic

Mask don't work! Blow smoke through the mask and you will see they don't work covid has 99.6 percent survival rate mask are all about control they are outside with plants makes no sense too be wearing them at all your breathing in the bacteria...research on duck duck go educate yourselves folks like you do your plants.. your being sheep!!!

We all need to remember in US only .19% of population have died from this since it first came about 18 months ago and 80% are for those 65 and up lots of these folks would have died of flu, cold or pneumonia. Good video. Compacting soil is a no-no especially for baby plants. It took me many casualties to realise this.

I grow most of my plants in my own potting mix based on coco coir and pumice. I am experimenting with mycorrhizal fungi and it has been very successful so far. They come as a powder or liquid and they grow a beneficial mycelium that forms a partnership with the roots, trading nutrients for sugars produced by the plant. It's what happens in natural ecosystems and it forms the so called wood-wide-web in forests. Happy plants!

I'm going to repot my caladiums which I keep outdoors and would try to use that aroid mix that you demonstrated. I'm also wondering what you think about replacing the wood bark with cocochips and dried branches/ leaves? Seems like alocasia is a terrestrial which requires more organic medium but the soil premix is mainly inorganic with large chunks of pumice. Does not seem consistent.

V good question. We forgot to mention the diff between mix for alocasia and philo. This is where we also look back at where alocasias are grown in natural habitat. Some in nature are found in slopes, in areas with generous amounts of rocks/ limestone. This means to emulate that condition, something fast draining and highly inorganic is more suitable. Also need to understand the specific one you have in mind. We tried to generalise with some principles but also the golden rule stands on understanding their natural habitat and then trying to emulate that.

oh Irene, thank you for ending that horrible satanic mosquito, i cant stand them, and for providing a fan for a light breeze for your guest. While this video has good information, the reality i think is that plants have a way they adjust to less than ideal mediums, ( once not overwatered ) i generally use the same combination of medium for all my aroids, mild adjustments for philodendrons, its basically to get a good drainage, i never used that pumice at the top, i balance plants with a piece of y-shaped stick and tie string until it anchors itself properly, ( i tap as i fill and press gently on the edge when done, by the way your hair looks fabulous, happy gardening and have a beautiful day. !!

Charcoal is different from activated carbon. Don't use activated carbon!

@@leafing.around Activated carbon has very fine pores to adsorb chemicals, including nutrients. So, nutrients will be less available to the plants. Activated carbon helps remove toxic waste in closed systems like a terrarium but in a free draining pot, you don't need it. Regular charcoal chunks are okay.
