Using a leave in conditioner helps the hair untangle more easily when brushing it out after shower. You apply when damp, i would suggest using a good qaulity one.

when planning on straighting out their hair My mom used coconut oil in the glass then night before and a lil before she blows out my hair and straightens it for it to go back to natural hair patteren whenever you wash it
