Paul L, Well I thought of a push-pull cable BUT. The transfer case selector moves about 270 degrees, almost a full circle. Rotation is so great a simple cable would not likely work. Also there would need to be a way to stop water, dirt, mud from entering xfer case (with the shift motor removed). My solution is fly by wire and really simple. Google DPDT switch. It just reverses the polarity of power going to the motor. Full disclosure I have years of electrical experience, but I had to google it too.

Donald, I don’t believe that dirt getting in is that big of an issue. There are companies that sell a bypass for these transfer cases, the problem being that they are a knob you use in place of the motor, and you climb under the truck, slip the knob on and turn the shaft to what position you want. I did this switch method for my nephews ranger, I just swapped in a T-case from an earlier ranger onto mine and mounted a shifter.

I would really like too see how this is all wired up it would solve my entire problem

See "rigging transfer case motor F-150 4x4" my DPDT switch was wired similar. The lights I just put 12 to the yellow/white wire and grounded the other (light) wires. (But NOT the brown, thick orange or yellow.)

a query, may the end finished part 3? I would like to know because I want to make this modification to a great wall wingle

Not yet. Part 2 does show the finished controls mounted in the console and operating the shift motor using the lights to position it. Thanks for asking. I will post a vid this weekend if possible. ( 2/27/14 ).

This explanation is as clear as mud,,to much talk and not enough of the meat of what you have done.

To complicated, there is an easier way

Why so cryptic? Spill the beans! Whatcha got? I had planned to just use a "SHIFTSTER" BUT.. That would require me to Get Out and Under my truck... With it Running! to move my transfer case ...EACH time. Not for me. Too dangerous. I've used my system at MOAB with no problems. Imagine getting under yer truck in rattlesnake country or the snow or mud. Shiftster emailed me to say they liked my idea. And asked I mention their product. There you go.

No offence to Don and his idea, he must be an electrical engineer. Without guys like him, our lives would be absolutely prehistoric. My idea is basic, but not as simplistic at a SHITSTER. I envision a mechanical system that would circumvent the standard OEM electrical. I have not yet built a prototype yet, so don't hold your breath, but I have plans to do so. It would use a standard electric T case, no need to buy the hard to find manual T case. I'm using a BW 1354 T case. The T case motor will be adapted to use a flex cable and cable mounting bracket attached to the back of the T case. This cable will make its way back to the cab to a selector using an indexed plate with three lock points representing 2W high, 4W high and 4W low. There will be no need to crawl up under your truck in the mud n snow to turn your SHIFTSTER, if you can find one. My device should not need adjustment. Simply bolt it to the transfer case, run the cable to the cab. This may require a new hole into the cab floor, a mounting bracket to fix the selector to a convenient location. KISS, Stay tuned
