One thing he didn't mention about the Angels is that Anaheim is also where Disneyland is, which was probably part of why Disney was interested.

The Oakland A's and Pittsburgh Pirates in the 70's had some great uniforms too. The Padres uniforms in the late 70's & early 80's were godawful! The Phillies in I think 1977 or 78 wore dark red uniforms (hat shirt pants and socks) for some home games. The White Sox wearing shorts for a few games in 76 or 77... The White Sox late 70's... the White Sox 80's... Houston's orange creamcicle uniforms.. And don't forget all the teams that wore powder blue road uniforms... like half of the teams in baseball at one time!

I know the Mets, Yankees, Red Sox, Pirates Oakland A's (I think they had powder blue uniforms in KC but I'm not sure) and Padres never had powder blues.. not sure about the Giants, Astros Orioles Tigers and Reds I don't remember the Giants, Astros or Reds having powder blue when I saw them at Shea.. but they may have before my time.

The Expos/Nationals did play some of their home games in Puerto Rico in 2003-04, the last couple years they were the Expos. The rest of their home games were still played in Montreal.

2:14 Saint Paul is a beautiful city - full of monumental architecture, large public parks, ostentatious mansions, and dense residential neighborhoods.. It has been referred to as "the last great eastern city" of the US. Someday soon you'll visit the USA, and when you do, you should check out the Twin Cities in the summertime.

The Padres used to be owned by Ray Kroc, who is better-known as the head of McDonald's. People said the Padres would never be a winning team because all the players were promoted to assistant manager.

Things that weren't mentioned in the Toronto Blue Jays segment: The Blue Jay is also the Provincial bird of Ontario. The colour blue was chosen by original owners, the Labatt Brewery, as a marketing tie-in with their Labatt Blue beer.

I think what they don't really cover is how the Mets brought National League baseball back to New York in a big way. In the 50's there was a huge portion of the fanbase who begged for the giants not to leave New York and were devastated when it happened.

The reason owners have a say today is territory rights.. mainly TV rights.. Back in the day it was a travel and scheduling issue. Putting the A's in Oakland put a second AL team on the west coast.. it cost alot of money to move 25 players, coaching staff, equipment handlers and equipment out to LA for a 3 or 4 game series, then move them all back east to make your next game... a second team out west meant they could play a series in Oakland, then LA (or vice versa) then come back east.. Before passenger jets were a thing, most teams traveled by train. That's why before the 1950's MLB never had a team west of St. Louis. ... Tho the St Louis Browns were going to move to LA in 1942... unfortunately the vote was scheduled for December 8, 1941 and got cancelled.. The owners were going to allow it

The 1969 expansion in the American League was rushed because of Kansas City.. The original plan was to expand in 1971 when Seattle would have a new ballpark ready to go.. Kansas City was threatening lawsuits as soon as the A's moved, a US Senator and Congressman got involved.. MLB caved.. and that's a major reason why the Seattle Pilots failed after 1 season. Their ballpark was a disaster. The toilets stopped working and would back up around the 7th inning at almost every game.. among many other issues with the old minor league park they got stuck in.

My biggest gripe with miami is that they play in the national league, robbing us the opportunity to actually have the cubs win the world series against miami in 2015. Of course the cubs wouldnt win it til 2016.

DC does not need to be a state. It was set aside as a federal district for a reason. If the people want representation that bad they can either move 10 miles in any direction or they can have Maryland annex that part of DC like Virginia did previously.
@soultrax101

But, It was set aside in order to be distinct from any other state, that doesn't prevent its own statehood. Also, wasn't the whole point of the War for independence to oppose "taxation without representation?" Imagine telling the colonists to just move to England "if they want representation so bad."

The only reason why anyone opposes DC statehood today is because of politics. Not for any historical reason Everyone knows perfectly well that if the Republican Party thought DC would vote Republican, they’d want them to be a state

Our voting system is a two fold system. You have senators and Congress which are two completely separate entities. Senators get bills which they vote on. That is done by the size of population in a state with a minimum of 1 person. Congress has two people voting per seat and majority votes wins there. The senate and Congress tend to be at each other throats a lot due to different personalities and political lines. Although they are friends off the floor. Anyway the senate gets bills first arguing them out and voted on. Congress gets it as the next link in the chain and if it passes it goes to the Supreme Court which figures the best way to enforce it or could be legally argued against. Once it passes it goes straight to the president for signing into law or if he doesn’t like it he could call a veto meaning the process has to start all over again but with more corrections and better language.

@@sabalomglitz6478 George Washington was a slave owner and didn't think black humans deserved any rights whatsoever, let alone senate representation.
