Thank you for the feedback it was very helpful. I'm still leveling our pool site on our sloped yard. I have a feeling I might have to slightly recess a few pavers to make them all level. Today instead of renting a grass sod roller I drove over the spot with our ride on lawn mower to compact the dirt. I'm also planing on adding a carpet piece underneath the pool with a tarp (maybe two tarps, sandwiching the carpet). Helpful hint for others...I found a large piece of carpet at our local Habitat for Humanity Renew store, dirt cheap and new carpet not someone else's nasty old carpet. :) I will let you know how it goes.

@cooldadstuff2988 Жыл бұрын
You can kinda see it more in my first video. The mounting bracket is pretty flimsy, so the best way I found to keep it secure was to get it vertical, (disconnected from the hose so it stays still) then drill vertically two holes all the way through the mount and the rails. Then get some long stainless bolts, washers and cinch it down. It won’t move after that. Before that, would constantly pop up or someone would knock it loose.

@cooldadstuff29882 жыл бұрын
As I recall, it was about 1.5 yards of sand. I used bags, so you’d have to calculate that out. It’s about 1.5”-2”thick. Yes, once you initially get the pool set up and on the pavers, it doesn’t have to be exact. As you fill, things start to adjust and move the pavers some accordingly. Things get heavy real fast with water in the pool, so get it fairly close initially and monitor closely as it fills. Once it gets half way or so, you won’t be able to move anything.
@michaelrockafellow11554 жыл бұрын
Nice Job! Looks great! I'm getting ready to set up our pool, and I wonder how the above ground pavers are working for you? Do you feel the liner might be stretched a bit by having the pavers above ground? Also, do your feet feel the pavers in the pool? I would like to install my pool like yours, but I feel like I need to recess the pavers in the soil. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
@cooldadstuff29884 жыл бұрын
Before I started, I had the same question and was thinking if the pool is on blocks, wouldn’t it be suspended off the ground, somewhat? I had asked others and no one had recessed them. Not to say some aren’t, for me, that would have been a tremendous amount of work in the hard dirt we have, plus, it would be challenging to make them level to each other “in a reasonable amount of time.” The end result, the pool is not off the ground or bending the frame. The pavers I have are approximately 1 1/2” thick. I have seen people stack them much higher or try to fix unlevel spots by stacking. I’m no engineer, but I just wouldn’t do that, looks like an accident waiting to happen. No, you do not feel the pavers in the pool as they are not actually touching the sides. I go over that some in the video, and so far, so good. A few things to consider, I have one paver that is cracked. I noticed it the day after I filled the pool. It hasn’t gotten any worse and I don’t expect it to just crumble to dust. If something happens, there are ways to replace it. Also, the pavers are very brittle, so people shouldn’t really dancing on them. I cracked a corner off one with my foot. Otherwise, they are fine. Granted, if recessed, maybe not. Also, being that the weight is towards the front of the paver, it could be tipping it slightly. I have a few where it’s maybe 1/4” tipped now, but nothing significant. In other words, probably not a good idea to be walking on them unless you want to potentially break them. Pavers are very porous, so having a barrier between them and the liner is advisable. The rolled tarp material is just fine. I saw some did wood blocks, but there’s a lot of weight on those feet and wood is going to flex and rot. Ideally, recessed pavers with the legs positioned directly in the center of each would probably be best, but I’m not going to sweat it. Good luck, let me know if you have other questions. I’m not afraid to share the good, bad, and the ugly!

@cooldadstuff29883 жыл бұрын
True! I called our city code enforcement to inquire about a few things. As part of the conversation “btw, does an above ground pool 48” need to be permitted?” The inspector said no, but you should get a dedicated outlet for the pump, which I have. Are most people going to do that? Probably not. My pump came with a GFCI built in, as most should...hopefully. At minimum, people need to be keeping all end points 100% dry or risking death. Unplugging the pump before swimming would probably be a wise decision. All you need is some kid to trip over an extension cord while wet and it’s bad news for sure.

@cooldadstuff29883 жыл бұрын
Hello, Yes, for $400 I do recommend the pool, but not for $1500! Yikes! I bought the pool at Walmart in the store , as they do not sell them online. I found that the only pools sold online anywhere were all ridiculously priced compared to what was actually in a store. Those online pools are mostly all scam artists trying to rip people off and have some type of relationship with the larger companies to sell on their websites. I would suggest calling places like Walmart or Lowe’s to see if they are even in stock yet for the season. Who knows if they’ll be selling the same brands/models last year, but if so, it’s still holding up fine. Also, it took me several weekends to prep the site. Unless your site is 100% flat and level, do not expect to unbox and have it up and running in a few hours. Takes at least a full day just to fill it. Prep is key because you do not want to have to take it down to fix something afterwards. Unless you’re in a pretty warm climate, March is pretty early for swimming as the pool cannot warm up enough. I’m in Southern California and the water is still way too cold. For me, it will probably be June before it’s comfortable to go in. Here is a link to the pump. They appear to currently be $100 more than last year this time. It’s not required, but highly recommended. The stock pump with the pool is completely inadequate. Prices on pumps will go up as summer approaches or they’ll disappear completely. Good luck.
