We can't suggest changes in our parents' marriage, but we believe that change starts with us in our own marriage and can be passed down to the next generation. Our marriage is very different from what it was 50+ years ago. Back then, our mother stayed in the village, handling all the house chores and taking care of the kids, while our father only came home once a year from working in the city. Things are totally different now.

Not sure if ndimva kakuhle na uSbari, but I think he asked why don't we suggest changes in our parents' marriages since we want to implement changes in our marriage. My answer is we cannot implement or suggest changes to our parents' marriages, just as by being married, we are not implementing any changes in your parents marriage as umyeni. The change or norm deviation is in our marriage, and pertains to us and not our parents in law marriages, thus it cannot be equated to us suggesting changes to our parents marriages. The changes we can make emakhayeni wethu and to our parents that would be on par to this would be if our brothers and their wives do things differently in their marriage and our parents don't accept that, that's when we can step in and say uba mama notata this is ubhuti's marriage and this is how they do things. So if ubhuti is the one cooking for the family ebe ekhona unkoskazi wakhe they should accept that because that's how things are done in their marriage is.

I have noticed that indlela esikhule kusenziwa ngayo we tend to say it's customs therefore believe that it cannot change not noting that custom is also influenced by time,so ukutheza was a custom then because of the state ebabekuso abazali. It doesn't affect the tradition/traditional ceremony being performed ngeloxesha,ekugibeleni inkuni ziinkuni so uba zize ngetractor or zithezwe nguwe make no difference zizopheka qha(awuthi mabatshintshe ibhokwe to igusha xabesenza imbeleko because wena awuyityi). Mna with making changes ,i implemented ezindibona ukuba zizoncedisana nam ekusebenzeni smart and my mother in love was supportive and still is,but there were other people who wanted to interfere like I use eziflasks for itea some would make comments like bafuna inkcenkce xa iya endlini enkulu 😅 like but one has to learn to navigate kwezozinto.
