I have to agree, this is one of the highest caliber lectures on psychotherapy on youtube I've ever seen. Love the idea of how communication is a system and we can change the system through changing our affect, behavior, attitude, etc.

I have Lorenzo Milan’s book the Lourdes of Arizona by Carlos Amantea which I am reading now - May 2022, that helped me hook up with video. Lorenzo had one of his community radio stations in our small town Los Gatos, Calif and I got to know him in the late ‘70’s before he moved on. We were friends and foes for several years. Two of my kids had shows on the station KTAO. I’m still in touch with some of the folks who were involved with the station. I relayed this video to catch your name - you’re Jeff Zelig, right? I was in therapy with Vic Lovell for 11 years, the fellow who was the director of the Psychodrama Workshop in Palo Alto, which came out of the Mid Peninsula Free U, which then became Prometheus Growth Center for a long time before it’s demise. Therapy once a week and psychodrama sessions every Friday night, and family therapy too. My former hubby was in the military for 30 and the government paid for our therapy all those years, even tho we divorced. I was a single mom that came back home to Calif with my kids and out myself thru college. I had lots of help and community with those spots I Palo Alto although we lived in Los Gatos and I got a good job in San Jose after graduating. Vic went to Stanford too and knew all the gang from Perry Lane where he lived and suggested to Ken Kesey to try the CIA experiments at the VA to make a little money. Kesey dedicated Cuckoos Next to Vic. And you can still see the SF Library memorial meeting where Vic read a poem for Ken after hud death. Memories. I take continuing studied classes at Stanford now, although retired. Since 2018. Fun and good memories. Don’t see Vic anymore but he still lived in Menlo Park I hear from another old friends from Prometheus. Nice take. Lorenzo died a couple of years ago in his beloved Mexico. I only found out a year ago from one the old radio peeps. When I told my kids they said they already knew. So my tears were solo. I first read the phrase that all we wasn’t is to “love and be loved” in Lorenzos book “The Myrkin Papers” when he gave it to me to read. I have love Lorenzo for giving me that gift. Thx for the video and mentioning the book. All his books are tough to find now and are expensive. He gave md the manuscript for Crippled Liberation Front Marching Band Blues to read on the beach when my daughters and I stopped at his place in San Diego long time ago when we were on our way to Mexico in the ‘80’s. I was flattered and didn’t realize what an honor it was. Anyhoo, take careJeff. Nice to see that old clip of Carl Rogers and Cristiman (?) don’t have the name right, do the therapy with the Spanish folks lying down, talking it easy in a tough situation of translating and all. 🆒✌️🎶

I just saw this video today May 9, 2022. I knew which one to watch when you said the year of the conference. I have the book, that you mentioned at the end, Jeff, written by the author/journalist radio tycoon Lorenzo Milan with his nome de plume Carlos Amantea in my hot little hands. I knew Lorenzo since the ‘70’s when he had one of his community radio stations KTAO in our town of Los Gatos near Silicon Valley.

29:00 did he say "Hispanic Speaking Therapist?"
@adventurer3645
@adventurer3645 8 жыл бұрын
+J Montes Yes he did. Of course we know he meant Spanish speaking. That is not the only mistake he made. He also made another one at 48:00 where he said the Heisenberg Uncertainty principle means if you know about the particle's location you lose information about the location. What he meant was if you have information on location you lose information about velocity, and vice versa. Keep in mind we all have clay feet. We are human and we make mistakes. But make no mistake yourself and remember that despite being flawed we still have a lot we can teach each other.
