I applaud anyone that can care for a loved one at home. Not all of us could.

This is such a cruel disease....you are obviously a loving couple. My neighbour too suffers and gets really angry ( not toward me), but I recognise the 'real person' they 'are' vs what the disease does to their behaviours. Scott...you didn't 'do anything wrong'....the disease did . Love from Australia

I'm so sorry this is a part that you must both experience. But it is good that you were able to work through it and learn possible triggers. Thank you for sharing the information. It is very helpful and its good to know there are support groups available too. You are a beautiful couple. Many blessings to you.

We haven’t been able to do another video for awhile but, amazingly, Scott is still chugging along. He continues to be able to stay at home by himself each day while I’m working. He is still mobile and still communicates very well. He does sleep more and more though.

I think your video is very helpful. My Husband 71 diagnosed in 2014 was very very angry had a temper. I'm wondering if it's FTD with ALZ. I've learned every trick in the book to divert, Love, avoid triggers. I can't have too much company or change things around without him getting upset. Trazadone is very helpful smoothing his anger or anxiety out and I don't like drugs. I do keep my cell with me at all times and my pocketbook right near the door if I need to run out of the house. So far so good as he is entering the moderate stage. God Bless Us

Lorraine Pellegrino, Yes! Divert, divert, divert. And meds are now my friend. They help him so much. And if it helps him, it helps me. God bless your journey, my friend!

Can I ask the name of your support group? Is it on Facebook? I haven’t been able to find any.

S T Absolutely. It’s called The FTD Spouse. It’s for those who have a spouse with Frontotemporal Dementia only. It’s a wonderfully private group.

My wife in the early stages of this disease. Starting to affect her writing and math skills. And she is having trying to think of the words she wants to say. I know if I am patient with she eventually can say what she wants. She hasn't advanced too level of Scott but I know its coming soon.

Patience is key for you as a caregiver for your wife. We have to always remind ourselves that we can’t fix this. And remember her concept of time is different than yours. When she’s speaking what seems like 10 minutes of waiting for her to get those words out, only seems like 1 minute to her. And always remember to “Just Breathe”. I’m sorry you two are having to go through this. It’s not an easy journey. Don’t forget to take care of yourself.

@@scottkellyblades8485 yes I will. I also have a 19 year old daughter that helps but has less patient then I do. So sometimes I have to tell too slow down.

Paul Leach, We’re doing alright. Scott is still chugging along. He sleeps quite a bit more but is still able to care for himself while I work each day. He hasn’t quite been able to get as much energy up to go for walks like he had last summer but he has gone on some short walks down the street and back (of course with his walker). I will try to do another video soon. It’s been too long since we have done one.
