What a mess to start from, but it's already looking better with some bright new steel tacked in. I really like the care you are taking and I'm sure that you will finish up with a car you can be proud of.

I would recommend to get some good quality tin snips, it'll save you a lot of grinding discs, produce way less dust, and be way less risky. (Especially grinding without safety cover is risky)

@@sjgcustom I am using one from Bahco, I believe it is the MA325. It has micro serrated blades, so it has loads of grip on the cut, and it can cut through a whole sheet, because the beaks are offset. The latter is very important, you should really avoid the type that can only cut one beak length.

I would have emptied the box completely and looked for a body with better substance. I would then have processed it and installed all the technology from the slaughtered one. Only the brake system is completely new and what needs to be new and I would move the GSI on the road. I would have saved myself the work you are doing to yourself. If you see how the passenger side has rotted, it would have ended up in the scrap yard. Too much work. There are still some of these series in good condition. Not with the engine, but that's why the entire technology including equipment was exchanged.

Rebuilding the body does not pay off in this condition. It's also a question of money, do I put it in such a state or look for something sensible where it's also worth sinking the money. I would rather completely overhaul the engine and reseal it. Because I know he thanks me. In the event of an accident, the insurance would not reimburse me for the time it took to build the body.
