This story happened in my life too. I met a cousin of mine in a wedding I spent like 2 days not knowing his name😢. We spent soo much time I even started to pick my hometown accent back we were Drinking, playing cricket swimming in pond we both spent so much time. he was very innocent and pure just like meialagan. I never bothered to ask his name we keep calling each other as bros. There are some people in life who u met randomly make a huge impact on u. This movie made a huge impact for me.

My dad had tears watching the first 5 mins coz he lost his home due wealth partion among their grandparents. Even now when we go to home town he ask me to take the long route so that he watch his old home as we pass by watching it.

If you notice something, Arul was initially doesn't want to sit in limelight, sat at the last row, but the moment he meets his sister, when she asks him to put the anklet, he doesn't bother people waiting in Queue. He is getting out of his comfort zone. when Love and affection is there, there is nothing else matter on what's going around. Director just layered and kept preparing us for the moments like this in this movie.

The sad fact about this beautiful film is that you watched the shortened version of it(18 minutes cut) due to people's feedback on it's run time while an item song was added to another already long film released along with this film. Sad reality of the mindset of our generation.

Premkumar is not exactly a traditional director per se. He was an assistant cameraman in 2007 and suffered an injury a day before his marriage. Its a hilarious incident involving him and his 3 friends. 5 years later his friends deceided to take it as a low budget movie. Kollywood was at a low point and many doors were opened for short film and young directors. He debut as cinematographer. One of his friend debuted as director. They hired a short film and failed actor for Premkumar's role. The movie was a super duper hit and launched the hero of the film into stardom. His name is Vijay Sethupathi. Then he wanted to become a director himself. But he didn't know how. So instead of writing a story, he started with writing dialogues after dialogue(you can see it in meizhalagan as well). His debut movie was 96 with Vijay sethupathi playing the majn role. It became a cult classic even outside the state. Absolute tearjerker. It defined the industry. His next movie is meiyazhagan. Since he starts by writing dialogues instead of story, all of his films happen in few days. Dialogues are films are meticulously constructed. If i were to rank 1) 96 2) Naduvula konjam pakkatha kaanom (not his directorial) 3) Meiyazhagan

Lot more goin on in the subtely in the movie.. 1. ArulMozhi - Name of the famous chola prince. Myth/story is that he was away from their empires capital - Thanjavur and had to return after a long time.. It reflects here where Aruzhmozhi returns to Thanjavur and that to Chola Palace(Name of the wedding hall) 2. The Bull scenes reflect the closeness of the Bull and its owner. Something to reflect for people who were wanting to Ban the Jaalikattu deeming it a cruel sport and Govt had banned it in 2015 and had to revoke after a massive peoples protest..

after watching this movie i feel bad for women who were in kgf, animal, and pushpa 2. It sad they have to trim this movie down just for this beautiful adventure. I would want more then 23 hour of this movie. Now days people rather watch bra strap get pulled, blood shed with machete, Oo Antava Mawa, and actor saves poverty people or go against the government. I missed old tamil movies. I miss great movies getting great collection.

The loan for the house for arvind Swamy is very unnecessary scene. It should be removed and add the scene Karthi went against the ban. They removed that scene from the theatre and ott. It was another pure feeling just like gift scene with the bride and arvind.

All those trimmed scenes should have been added in the Ott release. I live in Kolkata and I'm completely disappointed with our folks in Tamilnadu, who didn't fully appreciate the sensibility of the movie when it was in theatres and instead stupidly complained about length of the movie which pressurised the makers to trim the movie by taking out 2-3 important sequences. Hope the reckless audience and sensitive makers learn the needed lesson, that is to not fold for the momentous fervour.

For her clarification: the directors previous work was 96. In that movie there is a 10 minutes flash back story of the hero for why did they move there. The director took that plot and expanded it for this movie.

In Tamizh, the "zh" is pronounced...well, there is no English equivalent, but it sounds close to "rh" (kinda as in rhythm, but the r is softer). So, it's not "Tamil" but "Tamizh". Here, Meiazhagan would be pronounced "Mei-arha-gun", as close as I can make it.
