Just to add to that, if the cording was so off, are you not nervous to follow the old pattern? Or you would just sew it on properly or make sure it lies properly when putting it back on foam?

No, because I had adjusted it prior - most times you have to follow your eye. All of your perimeters have to line up. Your welt cord has to hug your perimeters of your foam, always.

Do you ever measure your foam and decide the size of your fabric/skins? Do you always follow the old pattern, just try to straighten it out etc?

If an old skin is in decent shape and just has some minor flaws, I will iron it trace it cut it out and use it. Its a time saver. And time is money.

Also, your question on measuring foam - yes I use it as a pattern, top and bottom and gussets and possibly zippers on occasion.

vinyals are so vast now its a tough question, some are better than others, you can feel quality if your at a store with displays.

9:47 - If your new material's cut edge is straight, can't you push your pattern all the way to the edge? Qvoid some cutting.

thats a loaded question i'd have to seee the piece your working on, as you know with upholstery there is always!! a variable or fudging to do
