I used the clam-shell mounts from the V6 removed from the 'Camino and a LSX plate kit. Found that if I swapped sides on the plates the mounts only set an inch forward from stock. I'm using a 4L60E tranny. I used the stock crossmember by setting it back placin the front hole of the Xmember to the rear hole on the frame. I tied it together by using a couple of pieces of 1 1/2 " angle iron drilling holes and bolting from the rearhole of the Xmember to the front hole of the frame on both sides. Then placed he lower mounts to the K-frame on the clam-shells, set the eng/tranny in, lined it all up then tack welded the lower mounts to the K-frame. Solid welding them after removing the power plant.
@DivineSpeed
@DivineSpeed 6 жыл бұрын
Probably worked just fine doing it that way. I have to borrow a welder. I wanted to weld something different in but it was more of a hassle to find a welder.

Great work! What did you do as far as the drive shaft with the 4l80e? What length drive shaft with stock 7.5? Did you have to change the rear yoke spline?
@DivineSpeed
@DivineSpeed 5 жыл бұрын
I just had to measure and have the factory shaft shortened and swapped slip yokes. I don't remember what the length was and it will probably vary from car to car depending on where you set the engine. I'm still using the factory rear yoke.

You didn't miss nothing on the wiring explanation. I was just talking about what I was going to do in the next video. Actually the next video is a quick explanation on the fuel system and then I'll do a wiring video. I'm working on the wiring now. After that I'll be done making videos once the car starts. Anyone with a channel with less than 1000 subscribers can no longer make money on ads and that was kind of the point of making the videos.

@@justinsmitty7849 it is my understanding that you do not need to notch anything for the Holley pan. In my case, the sawzall blade was more economically friendly than the Holley pan.

my adapter DOES NOT DROP RIGHT IN im gonna need to dremel out one of the clamshells cuz i can only see about 1/3 the hole. that mightve just been slop in the holes both went the wrong way to make this happen or maybe the 3 bolts holding car isolator could be moved but kinda too late now as it took 4 hrs just to get it in the engine bay

Sometimes I use a couple of long 1/2" drive extensions, a swivel, socket, and impact. 9 times out of 10 that will work if you have a good impact like an ingersoll rand. If not, I try to just use a wrench or maybe two wrenches put together.

I am putting a 5.3 in my 83’el Camino with 4l60e I got afl cold air intake shorty afm shorty headers, dual fans for the radiator, using billet mount plates and actual sbc mounts, hopefully I don’t have to cut much not sure what fuel pump ima use or what pan will work but we will figure it out and I know I have to customize my drive shaft but my worst expense is gonna be getting a new intake or just using a cowl hood my hood won’t be able to lose with the truck 5.3 intake unless I use a cowl induction
@DivineSpeed
@DivineSpeed 5 жыл бұрын
I've fit a truck intake under a third gen camaro hood before and the truck intake clears the grand prix hood. You might have to do away with the cover and shave off the extra junk on top that's not needed. Might take a little time but will be zero expense.
@hashgirl1717

Divine Speed Team we think we have it figured out but my ac bracket won’t fit with the billet plates I got even if we reverse them so either cut the ac bracket or the plate I will sacrifice ac for hood clearance and my engine turned out to be a 4.8

Hey man im having trouble getting my 5.3 ls installed in 84 cutlass g body. i think it came with EXACT SAME TRUCK MOUNTS , they are not lining up! did you use headers or stock manifolds , cuz my stock manifolds are hitting driver side frame rail and area with brake aportioning manifold which the tranny gear changer lever is attached to.
@DivineSpeed

I think I used LS1 F body manifolds but still had to notch the frame or crossmember. Not much but it's necessary without spending the money on a set of headers specifically for this car.

I'm looking into ls7 swapping my 87 grand prix with a manual transmission and I honestly don't know what transmission to go with any ideas? Also it would probably be a ls7 from an c6 zo6 do u think that oil pan would be ok or should I just get another one?
@DivineSpeed
@DivineSpeed 6 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what transmission would be best. I know some people have the clutch pedal deal figured out because there was a g body that had a manual option. I don't know what it was. Now if money wasn't an issue I would have a newer 6 speed. The LS7 is my dream engine. It did however use a drysump pan so I don't know if you would have to swap oil pumps to swap over to a LS1 pan or if you can use the drysump pan. I would use the drysump system if at all possible. I know that doesn't really answer your questions but I hope you can get it figured out.

@DivineSpeed
@DivineSpeed 6 жыл бұрын
Dave Knutson those are actually the factory 15 inch wheels painted black. The front tires are 235 60 r15 and the rears are 275 60 r15. The rears are too big. It has eibach lowering springs in the rear and I use a 1 inch spacer to keep the rear tires off of the frame rail. The front is even worse. Someone has heated the coils to lower the car. It's very low. I would like to put the same size front tire in the rear.
