This is a GREAT video series. So well put together and informative. How could anyone give this a thumbs down? Must be a John Deere service center worried about losing business LOL. Thanks for this series.

Thanks for another great video Brian! I bought an older high hour LA-120. It runs great except the trans seems to slip when loading the unit on a trailer when the angle is sort of steep. I also have the LA-115 and its never had a problem at steeper angles. Can I assume the older one may need more Oil in the trans?

Awesome video step by step! How much fluid in trans? I just want to change the fluid so trans doesn't fail 250 hours 2009 original.

I'm looking for an alternative to the ridiculously expensive K66 upgrade for the L130. Can you tell me specifically which K66 is the compatible one?

This is something that most of us R experiencing with these rears particularly the 40J rears is they will not go into that NEUTRAL POSITION so U can yank em into your barn or shop. I got 4 of em here this week one right after the other so here is how I get em off the guys trailers and it's now wonder the hoods get broken because NOBODY IS SMART ENOUGH TO REMOVE THE FRIGGIN WHEELS AND THE SHAFT KEYS AND THEY WILL ROLL RIGHT UP AND BACK OFF THE TRAILER PEOPLE. DO NOT FORCE EM. The first one I took apart the main drive gear was broken clean in half and I am saying that happened when I couldn't get my shoes and coat on fast enough the customer was OUT BEHIND MY SHOP with his son yanking and pulling shoving on the poor D110 and WE actually all heard the gear snap then there was like the comment what was that and sign of relief oh it's free now it rolls but it rolled about 2 feet and the gear jammed it up good so I pulled the wheels and shaft keys and the customer is now into me for better than $400 pesos or bucks however ya wanna say it. He needed the new pump the pump may have been bad from the factory is the way I am looking at it there R two actuators that do not function and never could have functioned since the pump casting was fouled with casting the holes for the fluid were solid and that made the actuators freeze up or burn up.... TUFF TORQ A PILE OF MONKEY TITS TO SQUEEZE AS WE SAY AROUND HERE. THERE SHOULD BE A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT AGAINST TUFF DORKS FOR THIS SHIT... I AM GETTIG OTHER CALLS BUT PEOPLE R WORRIED ABOUT MONEY RIGHT NOW HAVING HAPPY THE CLOWN IN THE WHITE HOUSE...

I have a k46 rear end in my mower now but I have a k57 that I could get from one of my buddies, would the k57 work in it? Or does it have the be the original k46?

I just picked up a l120 hydrostatic it wasn’t running but got it going but doesn’t move forward or reverse. I looked underneath and seen some wires hanging and look like they connect to the rear end where there are to male plugs.... would that stop it from moving???

I rebuilt my craftsman k46 last year, got it before it became a problem! Some people on a few forms said I was a dumbass for doing just this cause the mention in the manual non-serviceable! Total bs in my opinion

Would you make a video of how to change the fluid without removing the transmission?
@briansmobile1
@briansmobile1 9 жыл бұрын
Josh Savage I would love to, but sadly. You must on this model. Otherwise you'd have to use a robotic dinosaur to bite off the fuel tank and seat area and then hold it upside down to drain. I don't have a robotic dinosaur.

Brian's videos helped me a lot. I watched each twice before pulling the transmission. To bad it wasn't designed for adding fluid or drained while installed. Would be nice if parts wouldn't fall out when the pan is removed while on tractor. Remove the transmission from the tractor. Remove the pulley and fan. Drain the oil. Remove the pan. Wipe the magnets clean. Remove the filter. Remove axle retainers and pump block, watch selector pins don't fall out. Turn it on side and wash. Turn axle while washing gears. Use a magnet to remove metal from gear section. Blow it out. Replace filter with new, I washed mine. Replace axle retainers and pump block. Clean old silicone from gasket area and apply new. Replace pan, fill with oil and reinstall. That's a total of 3 to 5 hours.

you can make parts 10 to 15 minutes long? would be nice :)
@briansmobile1
@briansmobile1 10 жыл бұрын
The idea here was to round them in length by concept for sake of reference and continuity. Also, shorter videos process and upload better too. Making the remaining videos 10-15 minutes is totally doable though. You're the second person to request that and the material is definitely there. I'll see what I can do on the next two.

I know this is way too late (and I thank you and doublewide6 for tremendous videos here) but if you look at the schematic closely from TuffTorq, the wedge is upside down in both yours and doublewide6's videos. The schematic shows the thicker side up as you both have placed it, however in the schematic the transmission is NOT upside down like you both have it. Did it not cause issues down the road?
@EdFickle
@EdFickle 5 жыл бұрын
Actually the schematic is upside down... sort of. It's upside down with respect to how you actually disassemble.
