port carling gets super busy in the summer, its like tourist central of muskoka. If you come by in the winter its almost creepy with so many shops and so little people. Keep up the good videos

Bill, That looked like a great road trip - you sure had good weather for it! Unless Ford specifically calls for premium gas for that truck ... using it is a waste of your hard earned $$. The locks - the "doors" are actually called GATES. There are no pumps -- it is just valves that let water from the upper body of water into the lock to raise the level and valves that let the water out into the lower body of water to lower the level. Thanks for editing in the footage for the DIPPY ... never saw one of those before!

My hometown growing up I worked at Duke's as a finisher to make the boats all shiny new, played hockey for years and my grandparents came here in 1901 so we been around lol. Good job man I have more pics here of a lot of boats made in Port over the years. Yet it is overrun with MONEY now and sadly it's going away from the path we planned and it is sad.My Gramps has stuff in the museum too~

If you can catch it, the Winnona steam ship still does tours through the locks into Lake Rosseau. I was working in Port Carling last week. The water is very high this year.

Super sweet Bill! I too love this kind of stuff. History with a smattering of engineering tech. My wife would have had to drag me away from that self operated lock. I'd still be there working it. Lol. Keep the vids coming sir.

Most of the locks in the UK are fully manual, that means you have to open and close the sluice gates to let the water in and out, and heave the big wooden gates open and closed by leaning on the 'tiller' arm. They are free, paid for by boat licensing.

Bill I own an alumacraft with a 90 merc, if you buy a boat get an aluminum boat with an outboard because outboards never break and when they do they are a lot cheaper to fix than an I/o, also aluminum is a cheaper boat to buy, maintain and have a longer life span they are also stronger than fiberglass boats. If you are interested in a boat look into a 17 foot alumacraft, Lund, crest liner, or tracker with a mercury or an evinrude

Bill, since you lost the ability to make movies at the cemetery, why not get into doing camera work with the drone ? You seem good with the drone. You could do things such as special events, take requests from your veiwers, and other interesting things around southern Ontario. Just a thought.
