Checking almost daily for the next parts. I saw you first on instagram and I am so hooked on the idea of bookbinding now but I want to see the entire process before buying my own materials. If I do though I feel it’ll go really well thanks to you stellar explanations. Keep it up🫶🏼

This is such a great idea to do the books in that specific penguin classics style! Will you be covering how you’re designing the cover (fonts, software etc)?

How did your first book go? I just made mine at its pretty wonky 😂 learning curve I guess!

Oh don’t expect the first few to be correct by any means! Mine were an absolute mess but every one I got a bit better on! Just learn from your mistakes and change things up a bit the next time 😊

Do you not glue the spine to the bookcloth casing?
@ForrestGreenPea Жыл бұрын
Is there ever a time when gluing the spine of your text block to the case spine is ever appropriate? I've never really considered how books are made and it seems astonishing that the only thing holding it all together is the endpapers.
@ThatsMyBookshelf Жыл бұрын
Yes there is a method called the Oxford hollow, where you glue the spine of the text block to the spine of the cover itself. It’s used as a strengthener to heavy books, normally ones that have been sewed together, not the perfect bound (clean cut spine with the edges all glued together) paperbacks that I’m rebinding.

Which circut Maschine do I need? I want to buy the circut Joy? Which one do you have?
@tay_kenz5862 Жыл бұрын
I'm not the woman from the video, but I know she said in another video that she has the Cricut Maker. As a Cricut user, I know the joy has a much smaller width than the Explore and the Maker, so I don't believe it would be big enough to cut a full design for most book covers. With a joy, you'd probably have to do several cuts and space them on the cover yourself, whereas with the other machines, you would be able to cut the full design at once. Hope that helps!
