Thanks for the clear explanation of this tool. I didn't know that it can even upgrade the Multimause. Is it possible to change the trackvoltage? I have some decoders that doesn't like 18V. Greetings from Holland.

The more expensive black Z21 has the ability to set the track voltage. The white z21 and z21start is about 1 volt below the input voltage. So around 17V. All of the decoders I've ever used with z21start, including N scale locos, have been fine.

When you update your multimaus and the z21 do you loose your loco database and track plan?

In my honest Opinion Railcom is not the most important setting!!! A lot of older decoders can react in strange ways (as in interpreting the Railcom Signal as an Analog voltage) and react in a way that they see the DCC signal from there one as a full on analog DC voltage and set off without being able to be controlled again. This is even with decoders with the ability to use Railcom. The first and upmost important setting is the RAIL voltage!!!! If u use N-gauge decoders a lower Voltage can be required as older nano-decoders can handle only 16V! Only the latest generations of nano decoders can handle 18V. For H0 of course this is less important because they use bigger decoders.
