Well I’m happy for whoever will watch this and see the updated version. I just installed mine a few weeks ago and man I just wish I had this a few weeks ago!😅 although it isn’t anything new in the instal, you should really consider explaining the updated wiring & programming with the obd which was the part that was really tripping me up. Dmp finally did help me it just took days as the time zones were different and a quick yt vid would have definitely been helpful (for the new wiring/programming) installing all the hardware is all the same however so thank you for the series made the instillation a lot more straight forward and easy to understand

Nice!!! I’m loving the way it looks. It’s just so much better and premium looking. As mentioned in a reply to another comment. I already did a video for the new controls but I haven’t uploaded it yet. It will probably be up in a few weeks cause I need to finish editing some parts.

What in worried about is the replacement speakers, I see a ton of replacement burmester speakers on ebay but worry if they are counterfeit. I want make sure the audio quality is the same. The model i have is a s class maybach s680

This is not a “replacement speaker”. This is an “add on” for cars with the base sound system. The existing speaker on my car was a previous version of the add-on speaker. My car never came with a triangle speaker. It only came with the circle style speaker.

Hey Flex, great tutorial! Im a little worried dismantling the door cover and trim pieces may introduce rattling later on. How likely is this to happen with this mod do you think?:)

Always likely when you disturb something that’s fine. It’s up to whoever doing the install to make sure everything is put back together properly. I’ve never had any issues but again, I’ve done this a million times so I’ve gotten pretty good at it.

Hey Flexx, were your speaker covers actual speakers? I couldn't really tell in the vid. Mine are and I'm wondering how different the instal will be. I don't think too much other than replacing the existing connections with the new tweeter's connections.

My car came with a speaker on the door and no speaker in that triangle area. Both of the ambient speakers are actual speakers.

I have a question about the ambient lights. Is the obd part connected to the car on the obd port all the time? Because I would like to install it to my car but I don’t like the idea to have it all the time down connected. Is there any other way of coding and support the ambient light without the plug obd.

Yes it’s plugged all the time, but there’s an expansion port on the ambient harness that takes the place of your oem port. So that way you can always plug stuff (like code readers or tune dongles) into the expansion port without disconnecting the ambient kit that’s plugged to the oem port..

Probably not. Unless you are good are doing custom installs/retrofits.

I have a question I have a GLC 2018 that doesn’t have any ambient light so my question is how do I get the setup in my Mercedes menu to switch the colors. Normally you get the 3 mode colors as when you have a standard ambient light but in my case i have zero. Can you help me with that because I want to buy a full kit and install it but if I need to code something and programming then I’m out because I have zero clue about that stuff.

Did you know their ambient kit now installs on your stock head unit. They supply a obd that unlocks the ambient option and you can control it from the screen and not the steering wheel anymore.

I’m not sure. Your best bet is just to message DMP and ask them. They know what you need exactly if it works.

tried the obd port that’s provided by dmp and downloaded the app for the install, my car doesn’t come with ambient lighting but when the app diagnoses the head unit it says success but my screen doesn’t get the ambient light option, tried literally everything no luck the ambient lights just turn to whatever colour they like

Contact DMP for tech support. They are the only ones who can help you troubleshoot it since the dongle/app is still new for the ambient kit.

Of course. Don’t run the power supply for the color lights then. Just only tap the audio connection to the existing tweeter on the door.

The main door speaker is not louder. It’s a replacement that just looks better. The pop up speaker is replacing a dead spot where there was no oem speaker. So technically, it is louder compared to nothing to there. This is not a video on upgrading speakers for sound. It’s about upgrading to speakers with ambient lights.
