Not gonna lie, that is a favorite of mine. I wanted a daphne blue strat when I graduated high school and never bought one. I've even actually named a pet "Daphne" after that color. I almost wish I could acquire something like this from you. Gorgeous.

My fave colour for fenders apart from a bit of Salmon pink. It’s a nice guitar. Quite heavy but it has great sustain.

Can't believe it sounds so good with Chinese pickups, I made my own after seeing your build but chickened out and put Fender pickups in, everything else was budget though, still probably the most enjoyable guitar I have to play and if I'm honest probably makes the best noises. Agreed Leo got it right first time.

Everything is made in China. The pickups are superb hand wound. The magnets are alnico 5 and the cables are linen wrapped. The specs are spot on and the output well balanced. I would guess that way more pickups are made in China than anywhere else. These pickup were not silly cheap but probably a quarter the price of a handmade US or UK pickup. At the end of the day I don’t care who made these superb pickups and I cannot think why I would. I source my parts from anywhere that supplies the right stuff. I couldn’t care less about the nationality of the makers.

@@chrisreynoldsguitarmaking oh I see, I though you meant pickups of unknown Chinese origin. I’m the same to be honest, I just picked up a super cheap Strat for my son, it had terrible sounding pickups in it, so I threw a loaded Squier pick-guard in it and it sounds great now - all that was made in China. All the necks I buy are from China too. I’m still learning where to get parts from, for pickups I’d love to be less of a snob and get away from Fender, Dimarzio and Seymour Duncan but I’d need to know where to look for decent alternatives.

@@leeevernden at this price you can’t really lose. Pickups are like wine, you have to pay a really high price to get something that really is exceptional, but you can find something that you enjoy without laying out silly money.

Sounds really nice. I have 2 Teles, one fender and cheap Harley Benton I bought out of curiosity. It plays nice but it’s a little bit heavy. I’m thinking of rebuilding it an d maybe do a weight releif under the pickguard. Do you think doing a relief there could reduce considerable weight?

It should certainly help. You could make the body a bit thinner. That will help too. C
