Thanks for the video. Will do my access panel this way.

Sometimes you have to prop the access panel in place for 24 hours until the silicon has set - to take out the access panel - simply cut through the silicon joint with a stanley knife.

Ok. But want happens when you want to change to taps? I would do a bigger access.
@Studhawk4 жыл бұрын
The taps were wall mounted and not on the bath and the controller outside the tub to save over reaching into the tub. Taps don't have to be at the end of the bath any more as tubs can be bought without holes in them for taps

nice work but I prefer the Tiled Access Panel from Eurofirst company

Tiled access panel ready made - what nonsense all tiled access panels have to be tiled insitu and i have never seen a panel that comes ready tiled?
@Studhawk5 жыл бұрын
Not seen them but we don't tend to buy any access panels but make them as shown in the video. Our access panel is the silicon line which matches the grout and blends visually into the tiling. To remove our access panel you simply cut through the silicon and then renew. Any tiling job looks better for matching the silicon to the grout. With ready made access panels they have metal edges usually and this protects the tiles from chips when taken out but with metal edges the panel is not waterproof so I will always prefer an access panel that is a whole tile or a multiple of whole tiles. Not having an access panel and having a cut tile to the metal edges attracts the eye aesthetically to the metal outline and spoils the look. On the other hand plumbers often don't see the silicon line access panels to cut through and start hacking away at a tiled panel when it already has an access panel. Then they have ruined the room because you can't match the tile! It still amazes me how many tiled bath panels dont have an access panel! Always have an access panel as one day the bath trap will block up with hair.

That a bath or a sink? It's tiny!
@Studhawk4 жыл бұрын
Yes a small bath which was the largest that could be fitted into that room on the customers desired layout which was to be able to help the disabled man in and out of the bath. We did the tiling for free as he had cancer and I am not going to argue with a person in that situation and make them feel bad for a bad bathroom arrangement!
