Part 8: Second Year Bee Colony Management

27:32 Swarm story... A few years ago I had a swarm, a bit over 20 feet up on a big oak branch that was partially extending over my neighbor's yard. I did have a bamboo pole, about 18 feet long, with a bucket at the end that I kept around for dislodging "high" swarms. Unfortunately I just couldn't get the swarm to fall into it... mainly because the branch was so thick, I couldn't move it by bumping the bucket into it. By pure dumb luck, I DID manage to get the queen and a few bees to fall down to the ground. I put her in a queen cage in an partially open box with drawn-out frames at the base of the tree. About an hour later, the whole swarm had descended into the box... all without my neighbor noticing!

If you're saying this is wrong, what do you recommend we do when they are starving? I'm interested in learning this "different education"
