Thanks for sharing this. I stripped the brakes on our 70 A65 ages ago and couldn’t remember the correct way to rebuild them 👍

So are you rebuilding your B.S.A. now. A friend of mine had a 1969 B.S.A. A65 back in 1970 but lost it to those leaky petcocks after a drive one hot summer day after he parked it in the driveway. Just ain't no putting the fire out once it starts and it was burned up beyond repair. The B.S.A. petcocks were renowned for leaking and so starting fires, so don't reuse the originals. They just can't be trusted.

@@EdOfTheNorth thanks for replying Ed. Yes we’re rebuilding it at the moment. I’ll definitely take your advice 👍 Thanks once again

Your bike is shaping up nicely Ed. I am happy you didn't take my advice and toss the knee pads on the tank. They look great. I have no doubt that ABS has saved many life's, but as you say I hate them. For those of us that have a feel for what is going on between the tire and the road, It is very scary to lose that feeling and ABS takes that away from us. Have a great day my friend. God bless, Bill.

Hi Bill. All I know is that Chrysler's ABS is flawed. There is a possibility of a feedback loop in the control module which effectively deactivates the vehicle's braking system. My daughter and I were nearly killed when this happened to us. Everyone says I'm crazy and that what I am showing them about their system is impossible but I guarantee, one day the truth will come out and all the idiots who ignored logic will be shown to be very bad managers directly responsible for many accidents. Computers are great tools but when you build a system without a safety redundancy built into it and rely completely on the computer to get it right every time, one is messing with disaster. Thanks for stopping by and God bless you folks.

coming along nicely.... installed skulls speakers on my street750. no radio or mp3 player. i like staying alert. ordered the a seat cushion that has the tailbone cut out. although i have not rode long enough so may just use it while on here.....lol i'm doing all the work on bike...no sense paying $600 unless its a recall part. these bikes are having problems with water getting into the front fork bearings. i never liked riding a bike in the rain anyways...no wipers for 1 thing...lol the skull front wheel nut is a joke...they want you to beat a sleeve on the nut...naa i don't think so...will use longer set screws and drill a third and lock tight. yes you are right about needing front brakes....to me i use front more than the back and use down shifting. easier to replace too. harley did upgrade 2017 with abs.wish i had it...i can stop better fast but not as fast as abs. wow your brakes are like a car...the old brake shoes. knew a bunch of buddies who worked making those for werner in houston.

Hi Rob. Sounds like you are personalizing your bike and making it yours. That's the way it should be for sure. As for ABS, I don't trust them. I think you are better off without them. My PT Cruiser has ABS and I disconnected the entire system years ago. My experiences with ABS and a complete loss of braking capability are not good. I like the old brake shoes on my Triumph. They were more than adequate and not nearly as ugly as a disc caliper hanging off a fork leg. lol. Ride safe and God bless.

Earlier ones where Single Leading Shoe brakes with one cam, that is a Twin Leading Shoe brake from 1968-1970 BSA/Triumph motorbikes ,followed by the later cable operated Conical Hub type from 1971-1973 ish!

I'm still laughing about the over dubs you put on here.lol It took me a while to get use to ABS, Fuel injection, and Hydraulic clutch. I'm old school. Everything I had rode was cable, carb, and normal brakes. It was an interesting ride home the day I picked it up from the dealer. The ABS applies equal pressure to front and back any time brake is applied. This really sucks because as you know there's times when you don't want front brake at all. Its even worst on the Trike. I find myself down shifting rather than depending on the brakes,

Hi Stan? Mechanical fuel injection I love. 1956 was a very good year for the auto industry. Hydraulic clutch I love. ABS.......not so much. I had some music on the video as well but it got tagged so I removed it. Seems nowadays that even the un-copyrighted material is being copyrighted by thieves so they can monetize any video with their stolen property in it and so make money. Not from me... LOL. That's what the dead audio zone was all about. Thanks for watching Bro and God bless you folks.

Not ANY grease, it must be HMP (High Melting Point) so it does not melt and run onto the drum or shoes. Wheel bearing grease should be ok but special brake greases are better. cheers Dave UK

The autocratic EU has insisted every new bike has to have ABS or a linked brake system, even mopeds they are crazy, costs weight and U can never learn to feel the balance properly as with non ABS machines!
@EdOfTheNorth6 жыл бұрын
I don't trust ABS one bit and the last place that system belongs is on a motorcycle. But people see trick riders doing front wheel stands and such like that on the Internet and think ABS is the way to curtail such behavior. And yes, the autocratic politicians are really that childish but it's the childish electorate who push them to do such things. Funny thing about computers is that sometimes they have a mind of their own. I've experienced ABS lockout where the signals get crossed in the valve manifold and it locks out the hydraulic system from applying the brakes. The result is NO brakes. Man that's no fun.
@johnhall10016 жыл бұрын
There is also an issue of ABS getting confused on surfaces which move under the wheel, like gravel and mud, leaving you with a no brakes situation too!
