BaddieUniverse Unfortunately if she has to perpetually think he is going to cheat on her, there will never be trust. Therefore she isn’t keeping him on his toes, rather it’s the other way around. She will always be wondering if he is faithful and that will set a limit and a barrier on how close she will allow herself to get to him. So in essence, he isn’t cheating on her, she is cheating herself of the fullness of the relationship. It’s sad that a relationship has to be based on “leaving somebody’s ass”

Marriage and having kids isn’t a goal for me. A long term partner with a possibly adopted child is my idea of happiness. I can raise the kid alone if I want to and I don’t need to have the father around for 18 years if things don’t work out. I just love the security of knowing I can leave whenever I want and do whatever I want as the “gf”. I look at marriage as an eternal commitment. I never understood someone to say they would rather be with their partner for years but refuse to marry. Getting married (to me) is showing your partner, you made up your mind, that they are the ones you want to be with forever, if your afraid to make it official then deep down I think you still don’t know what you want, Bc that paper makes it real and that scares some people. I was with my husband for 4 years before we started introducing each other as husband and wife. I feel that too many people forget that marriage provides a lot of legal and financial protection as it is a union recognised by the law so in a lot of unfortunate circumstances you are covered . However it is a very hard and long process to get out of. If you’re country offers civil partnerships to all citizens then that might be a great alternative if you don’t want to get married. You will get a lot of the same legal protections but it is a lot easier to get out of.

I think there’s something to be said about the stigma we put on women... it’s alway stressed on women that once you are born you are supposed to live up to your “ purpose” which is to be married and bare your mans children... but in today’s modern society a woman can be a momma , a boss lady , a bomb ass , a this , a that , and still have someone to cook , clean and worship and love on everyday but sometimes it’s ok to not want to settle down... you can be married to the bread and the man in your life... but if the marriage part is not for you but you still want to be with that person that’s fine too

Marriage is a big inconvenience when it comes to separation. My dad has a temper that forced my mom to call the police several times. Deciding she had enough, she tried to divorce him but French law makes it hard especially when you have assets in common, it can last years so she's stuck with a narcissistic pervert for now. Also women often think of marriage as a safety net and put their career aside but in reality you're completely dependent on the husband's financial decisions. When he'll decide that you're not good enough for him, he'll leave you and will have to pay a miserable amount of money to take care of kids he didn't even want in the first place. Ladies, work your ass off and answer to no one. As for Shakira, she refused to marry her first partner, she's coherent with her beliefs. She doesn't need a reason other than not wanting to. I doubt her husband minds, he's European, marriage isn't an absolute necessity for us.

I think people don’t want to make things official because it means that the people involved in the marriage are going to be accountable if things don’t work out......people don’t put their money where their mouth is.... they don’t want something to bind them with another person after the honeymoon phase has worn off...they want it to be easier to cut and run when things get tough or they get bored...which is a sign that they are not as committed as they claim to be.....if u have children with someone, have lived with them for quite some time and are committed. why not make the arrangement official? If the commitment and affection is present/genuine why not sign the documents attesting to that truth? Shakira might not trust that he is committed to her and if he cheats she doesn’t want to give up her money on top of dealing with the betrayal.....assuming she makes more than him and she would have to pay him spousal support. I don’t disagree with the reasoning but be honest about the reasoning instead of saying, 'marriage is just a piece of paper”..... I also think making the decision to not get married denotes an absence of trust amongst one or both parties.

Then they come crying whenever they feel tired or worried about cheating husbands.... why is it hard to believe some women like the comfort of waking up only caring about her breakfast? She clearly said that she does not want to marry so that she can act freely "depending on his behavior". So, she obviously wants to control his behavior with the threat of leaving him. And I do not think that a man of Pique's status, wealth and looks can be played like this. But to be honest, I do not think the Pique really cares about a marriage with Shakira. She is 10 years older and even Shakira will lose her looks sooner or later. Very unlikely that Pique really sees himself staying with Shakira forever.
