100k per annum in US is like 6lakhs per annum in Hyd. 100k after taxes is around 5800 per month. 2000 goes for rent - in an avg apartment. 500 for groceries atleast. 500 for car including insurance and gas assuming you buy a basic one. Insurances another 200-400. Phone and wifi and utilities another 300-500. Now add everything and check the monthly balance. Oka kid toy adigina, oka weekend restaurant vellina, oka year vacation vesina - savings clean aipothay. So experienced people, demand for better salaries if you are coming to US directly on H1 or L1.

A family of 4 where both husband and wife work will need atleast 150k per annum to afford a mortgage and decent vacations atleast to India. All I am saying is, check your situation and plan accordingly. It depends on the place as well. 70k per annum in NYC is not a decent pay, but it's great in Oklahoma. 1. Place 2. Public transit 3. School districts and housing costs Average mortgage payment with 10% down payment is now at around 3000 per month plus HOA, taxes, Insurance and bills.
