I just took a 400 mile round trip moto camping at the Great River Bluffs state park in Winona, Mn. Beautiful area! I don't plan on trailering my bike anywhere. If I have the time, I will ride it wherever I want to go. Great video and thanks for sharing!

I go camping at Indian lake in Russell's Point/Lakeview ohio. It's like an hour away from where I live so it's a decent ride but not too far away if there's an emergency.

I camp on Cherohala Skyway (Indian Boundary Lake), Citico Creek. About 80 miles from the house. Quick camping at Suches GA about 45 miles away, on the way to Helen. An idea you can take or leave: simplifying pack/unpack. Leave deflated pad, pillow and sleeping bag/quilt inside the tent. Pull the poles Fold it as narrow as you can (usually in thirds) Roll the whole thing in your ground tarp tightly with your poles. Strap it into a roll. Strap it atop your saddlebags in front of sissy bar. One roll is now bedding. Wet ground...roll it out, erect it, inflate pad...all dry. Dark arrival...nothing gets lost. Dark departure...same. Wet gear from overnight monsoon. All wet gear is in the roll, not getting your dry stuff wet. Roll it out on first sunny day.

I am not a woman or a Harley rider but I take all my gear on the bike with me. I have done 1,3000 mile trip to the Grand Canyon from Chelan WA on my Honda NC700X with no issues. I am about to take a 800 mile trip to South East Oregon June 1 on my new Honda CRF300L Rally carrying all my gear with me. I am using all Giant Loop rack less bags. Not sure how that would work on a Harley. You Tubers you could check out on the subject would be Her Two Wheels or Doodle and guys like Dork in the Road or Tim from FTA. Tim has a book out about camping on a motorcycle. Another excellent book on the subject is Motorcycle touring BIBLE by Fred Rau. I hope this is of some help to you or some one looking to get stared motorcycle camping. People have traveled around the world on just about anything with two wheels and a motor.

Hi! I did a trip a few years ago on the west coast. It was a multi-purpose trip but for the second half I rented a motorcycle in the Bay Area and rode up the coast to Arcata and then cut inland towards Mt Shasta. I brought a Wolfman duffle bag that I strapped to the bike with my camping gear inside. I had a very basic camp setup that worked for my purposes, basically like a backpacking setup.

Thanks for walking through all your gear. I’ve never moto camped but I’m hoping too this summer. I like the tent. Ive looked at the Nomad by Able Brown but not sure I want to drop $250 on it. Enjoy the summer.

I really liked it, but it was pretty big once set up and it felt too open on the inside. I prefer a smaller footprint. But the tent is pretty nice, especially for the money!

I have touratech bag which straps easily to my Road King pillon position, which keeps all my camping gear in one place (and dry!). Then just a medium sized saddleman for clothes and personal stuff. The side cases, I put stuff I need to get to quickly or frequently Ie rain gear, water, food and I try not to pack too full. I have been fortunate to have about a week to 10 days for a trip every summer and alway enjoy the journey on the bike rather than trailering it...but I get it. Colorado, Nova Scotia (Cabot Trail), anywhere along Blue Ridge Parkway are awesome destinations. and great for camping.

i often trailrt my goldwing in my enclosed trailer if im gonna be camping for a week or so. Im a big guy and i like my comfort. a stand up tent, a full size chair, large cot for sleeping . tarps for bad weather.etc. its nice to have different options if bad weather hits , instead of riding in the rain or hiding in a tent . i usually use a base camp and venture out in a different route each day.
@RoadWorrierMoto2 жыл бұрын
Yea, if it's POURING down rain, I'll pick a hotel over a tent. Especially on a multi day trip.

My brother and I take a week long trip every year, most of the times its with softails, but we have baggers too. I use a T-bag expandable that sits on the back rest rack and an Army duffel bag rides the pillion with sleeping bag and tent in it. When taking the dual sports, packing gets interesting..
@bulletmtw2 жыл бұрын
Try a Nemo filo pillow air and padding together , also plan on packing your rain fly separate from the tent once it gets wet. If you haven’t water tested your tent might want to at home and see if it needs to be seam sealed before your next trip. Enjoy the journey !
@RoadWorrierMoto2 жыл бұрын
My tent is good, I had to seam seal and repair my rain gear pants. I melted them on my exhaust last year.

We trailer our bikes for BDRs in other states. One person usually drives a trailer with the bikes and the rest can use a rental. We even had one guy fly to Idaho and meet us at the hotel as we were traveling because he couldn't get the first travel day off.
@RoadWorrierMoto2 жыл бұрын
Do you feel like you can "get there" faster by trailering? And that's great with a group being able to accommodate different schedules.
@Megakoolguy3572 жыл бұрын
@@RoadWorrierMoto It would take twice as long on a dual sport bike like a 500 EXC or my 650L, but my Panam can hold 100 all day. Speed would just be a bike choice at that point. That said, if you are time limited and you have a riding spot in mind (the coast hwy or something), then you can avoid fatigue on your bikes and bodies by trailering. I get drowsy very easily, especially in the heat. I can't imagine days of riding on the interstates with trucker trying to run me off the road. My brother took his Versys 300x from Oregon to one of the Carolinas. He said it stopped being fun somewhere around Kansas. If you have the time to enjoy it, then riding is the fun choice. If you are riding just to "get there," then you might as well drive an air conditioned truck and tow your bikes safely behind. I would opt to trailer, but I know hardy folks who would totally iron butt it the whole way.

WE have some nice State Parks here in Eastern KY, but I am heading to Hunting Island SC, probably make it two day ride since it about 9 hour drive in a car. I want to acquire all my gar though and try few places close by to make sure I pack right.
